Good games for tavern gambling?

I'm thinking Liars Dice, Spades, and Blackjack as a few good tavern games to gamble on and get in brawls over. Spades is a personal favorite card game and I would probably bet away a few to many coins on that if it does make it into CoE. Opinions?

^^ All good ideas above so far.

How about dominoes, darts, backgammon? If those would be too modern please let me know, not sure when they were invented tbh lol.

Update : Cockfights | Drinking Challenge (drinking someone "under the table")

bare knuckle boxing.

Very nice idea, it's like killing two birds with one stone. You can practice your barehanded skills while earning a few coin.

House of Luck/Fortune (game rules here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gl%C3%BCckshaus) was a common gambling dice game during the medieval period. Card games were constantly banned so people would just change the games slightly and call them something else so there are a plethora of card games from that period.

Update Cockfights

Well, according to the almighty wiki backgammon is one of the oldest board games, but i'm sure with the right cosmetic skin any board/card game can fit in CoE.

The shell game, love the blackjack idea, is poker too complicated? Some simple form of it?

How about the knife game, where you use a dagger between your fingers until it hits the skin (heard it called 5 finger fillet)? In the same vein, Mumblety-Peg would be fun too.

Very nice idea, could possibly be used to increase dagger proficiency as well while earning coin.

Though I certainly wouldn't mind having the in-game version of beer bong present at the local inns, I would still like to see something more time consuming, like chess or gwent from the Witcher series. I'm a big fan of the Ice & Fire novels, and I always wanted to play something similar to cyvasse, which is a table top game where each player controls ten figurines representing different attributes - ranging from infantry men to King. Think of it as a mixture between blitzkrieg and chess, a small game of thrones if you will. Something like that would be truly memorable :)

I think the location of the tavern should affect the types of games/events inside....perhaps upper class have intellectual games like chess, or maybe even handle betting on arena fights or horse races...lower class pubs could have fight clubs, knife throwing, games that make you feel unsafe to be there.
