Darkmire Academy - ClOSED DOWN.
A School for Academics, Mystics, Artists, and Healers
Who we are:
In Darkmire Academy, we are aspiring alchemists, herbalists, astronomers, cartographers, musicians, artists, beast tamers, zoologists, mystics, crafters, cooks, bakers, architects and so, so much more. Aiming to teach and prepare the generations of tomorrow for work in guilds and companies out in the world, Darkmire pulls its resources to form an academy worth taking more than a look at.
Who we work with:
Being led by the same individual, we are connected with the Mystic Guild heavily already. However, given the academy’s long term dream and the Mystic Guild’s aim to bring together an academic and mystical community, the connection goes beyond mere ownership. Just keep in mind that though the Mystic Guild and Darkmire Academy share similar interests and endeavors, that does not mean they are the same thing. All members of the Darkmire Academy are Mystic Guild members, but not all Mystic Guild members are Darkmire Academy members. Do keep this in mind.
As you may have already deduced, Darkmire Academy strongly works with to protect and aid Darkmire County, which is ruled over by the Rythcorm family and is located in the Conclave of Aritaur, Kingdom of Vornair.
Our ambitions and Endeavors:
In Darkmire Academy, we wish to train and prepare upcoming working members of society so that they can go off and work for a partnered guild or company with an already proficient skill level.
That said, we also aid the county in crafting, healing, and alchemy services. The more adventurous of students can take up beast and criminal bounties. Our professors and exemplary students may wish to travel to and investigate strange events throughout the realm.
Darkmire Academy’s main endeavor is to find anything remotely near magick, study it, and grow its use if possible. Though we study and work in main areas, our main goal is to revive the golden age of magick.
The classes we teach:
Astrology: In this class, you will study and chart the stars to determine and better understand their meaning. You are also asked to find ways such meanings can apply to the world.
Cartography: In this class, you are provided with materials to better your skill at map making. You will be required to create maps of specific areas of various sizes and difficulties to measure your level of proficiency.
Beastology: In this class, you will be taught the different strengths and weaknesses of dangerous beasts and where to find them. If beast taming works out for Darkmire, you may have the chance to see some beasts up close to study. Given the hazardous nature of these creatures however, it is more than likely you will have to track these beasts down and study them under threat of death and serious injury. Have fun!
Music: Those who look to calm the soul with their voice or get use dancing with their mad lute playing skillz, should consider taking Musical Arts. By the way, McGarner, I saw your performance in the courtyard. Do you accept tips?
Art: The stroke of painter’s brush and the acting of a well performed play exhibits a magick far beyond anything of this world.
Alchemy: Understand the delicate practices of science as you learn how to use alchemical instruments and various ingredients to heal the sick, restore strength, and protect yourself. Please… Please wear proper safety garb and use proper safety devices before touching anything. Let’s try to keep the classroom walls intact this year. Thank you.
Herbology: Get your hands and knees dirty as you find, grow, and learn about various plants and how they can be used in various scenarios. It has been noted that certain students have taken a “fondness” for certain herbs for “recreational” use. Just a friendly reminder, there are more appropriate recreational supplies in the tea room. More than enough for the safe high or trip.
Armed Combat: Here, you will learn how to use various weapons. Mainly swords, bows, and staffs. You will be taught combat tactics and survival techniques that will keep you on your feet for as long as you can endure. It is expected to maintain a fit body and battle ready health throughout the length of this course. Darkmire Academy is not liable for any injury you may obtain during this class. This includes, but is not limited to: Incineration, Decapitation, Evaporation, Sterility, and/or Death.
Provisioning: Everyone needs a good cook and brewer. From the lone tavern to the most massive armies. In this class, you will learn how to create various food and drink goods, along with the tools and knowledge to creatively create your own inspired dishes. Would the person who keeps jinxing the cheese to dance please stop. Fondue night is hectic enough without molten hot gorgonzola and asiago blends doing the tango on Lady Shannon’s head.
Occult Studies and Ancient Scripts: 1. This class will have you learn the power and weaknesses of dark and monstrous entities. Such as werewolves, vampires, liches, and others. You will learn how to utilize that knowledge through various tactics to defend yourself against such nefarious foes. You will be required to buy a copy of “Bullies, Bastards, and Liches. How to fight the bad guys of magick.” by Jessica Page Norrell just to read page 394. 2. This class is also dedicated to learning and exploring the astral realm. I would like to take this moment to say that putting yourself in near death experiences to further the academic study of the astral realm is not a good idea… 3. Some class days, you will studying the make, history, and effects of magickal artifacts. Other class days, you will travel to specific paranormal sites to study the location’s significance and effects. Please be careful when handling artifacts and exploring locations. Though examined before class worthy inspection, hidden effects may present themselves under unknown specific conditions. 4. Learn how to read and write in various languages. Become masterful of the written word and decipher hidden meanings from ancient texts. Also learn how to write a rather colourful letter to someone in a code only you can read. Or so you think you are the only one. I’m looking at you, McGarner. 5. When a talent has entered our halls, when an artifact has become something spectacular, when the unexplainable needs a third look, the students of this class work to study and grow the magick of whatever is holding their attention.
Architecture: Design and build small scale buildings for the school and, if you are proficient enough, for others outside the academy. You may even make a pretty copper. Study and delve into the art of Architecture and help the world build a better place. Or, at least, a better looking one. While I am here, no. We can not replace the stairway hall with moving staircases. It’s already been done and patented. We don’t want another “Oh, you have floating candles too?” fiasco.
Forge and Natural Crafting: This class has two main branches. Natural: Carpentry, leatherworking, papermaking, fletching, and the like. What was once living is now dead and being turned into an armchair. This class is for crafters with the more naturalistic touch. Forge: Armorsmithing, weaponsmithing, glass blowing, etc. Basically the opposite of Natural Craftworks. If it requires a big, furnace that melts metal, it belongs in this branch.
Tailoring: You will learn how to design and create clothing tailored to specific purposes, individuals, and style. I’m looking for a new hat, by the way. Also, jinxing shoe laces to tie themselves together so people can trip will not get you on anybody’s good side. I’m still looking at you, McGarner.
The services we offer:
We disperse out crafted and alchemical goods to sell through the mystic guilds. We may be open to craftwork commissions and private funded studies. It depends on the level of peace being maintained in and around the nation and what the scale of said commissions or studies may be. The Academy and Mystic Guild Halls may also be a fine place to send beast, bounty, and miscellaneous contracts.

Our holidays, tournaments, and celebrations:
Darkmire Academy is a place of proud mystic roots and a place that celebrates great academic and wondrous achievement. As such, Darkmire Academy has many celebrations, providing something to look forward to around every corner.
Holidays:
Renewal: January 1st - 7th.
The ancient druids believed that the soul undergoes a time of rest and awakens with renewed vigor and ambition. During the week of Renewal, the students of Darkmire Academy spend their time resting, relaxing, and recharging to awaken refreshed for the soul year ahead.
Imbolc: February Eve.
Imbolc is a holiday that celebrates and honors healing, smithcraft, and poetry. Mages can expect to find inspiration for their creative works. Darkmire Academy celebrates all forms of creativity during this time, but the two most look at are forged crafts and well cooked food.
All Hearts Day: February 14th.
A time of rousing hearts, declarations of love, and the empty coin purse or two. All Hearts Day is more than a holiday for lovers, it is also a holiday that calls for tolerance. You may not like your neighbor, but on this day, just smile and wave like the rest of us. It could be worse and last a whole year!
Ostara: March 20th - 23rd.
Ostara celebrates the triumph of life over death. It is time when light is celebrated over dark. Students should see to their inner wellsprings and plan according to the life their body has left. They should also see to their gardens and focus on the growth of life if weather permits.
Jester's Day: April 1st.
A day dedicated to the merriment and joy that a prank and a well said joke brings. As such, students and faculty are encouraged to provide their best pranks and best jokes. Thusly, there is a comedy contest and show at the end of the day. which comes with its own rewards.
Beltane: May Eve.
Beltane also celebrates life, but recognizes new life specifically. Those born during this time are celebrated and prepared for the world ahead. In this time, members take a break from their projects and aid novice students in their endeavors.
Litha: June 20th - 23rd.
Litha is a time when accomplishments are celebrated. Those who reach the respectful echelons of the guild or earn well accomplished rewards are recognized and celebrated, and revel with their peers. The Academy celebrates Litha with feasting, dancing, and music.
Lughnasadh: August Eve.
Lughnasadh is the holiday that recognizes the work of farmers and servants. With bread and wine, we celebrate those who work hard for others. In this time, the Academy also celebrates competition. Duels are held during the soul day, then bread and wine is passed during the soul night.
Mabon: September 20th - 23rd.
Mabon is a time of personal introspection. A review of work done, accomplishments achieved, and life spent. It marks a point in a soul year where the body has a choice to shed past aggression and move forward. In the Academy, it is encouraged to let go of hazardous parts of one’s life during this time.
Samhain: November Eve.
Samhain recognizes life and death. During the soul day, we respect the dead and bless holy grounds and graves. During the soul night, we celebrate the past lives of mages. It once was believed that the barrier between life and death is thinner during this time, so Darkmire students are asked to respect the dead.
Yule: December 20th - 23rd.
On Yule, Darkmire Academy celebrates the end of a soul year and the work accomplished throughout it. It marks an end as well as a beginning. The last night of Yule is bonfire night. Bonfires are lit on campus and at our guilds, where our members write down their wishes and cast them into the flames, hoping that the wish will come true in the next year.

Month of Birch Dinner Dance: January 8th.
Month of Oak Formal Ball: June 24th.

The Awards and the Importance of Guild Points:
Aside from having a place to sleep, eat, study, and work freely, there are many many opportunities to be had at becoming a student of Darkmire Academy.
Becoming a student of Darkmire Academy means becoming a member of the Mystic Guild. A collaboration between academics with an interest in the mystic arts. This provides a perfect opportunity for travel and networking.
As you study and work in the Academy as a student, you will gain something called Guild Points. These Guild Points determine your rank, proficiency, and availability within the Academy. A high amount of guild points means more rewarding, though more difficult contracts, better job possibilities outside the Academy, and access to better resources and equipment.
Obtaining Guild Points can be rather simple. Showing up for class, participating in class, and / or helping out around the campus are just a few ways to earn small amounts of Guild Points. Participating in Academy events, showing expert skill in your classes, completing Mystic Guild contracts, getting special rewards, and many other things can bring larger amounts of Guild Points. So, if you’re a student, get active and make yourself known!
Overtime, however, your guild points will start to drop if you let it. Professors can also take Guild Points away, so be careful! Try not to break any significant rules, become a burden on the Academy, or fail your class exams… Students who remain a novice for a long period of time or end up in the negative are provided a warning. If improvement is not achieved, the student is removed from the Academy. Darkmire Academy is rather generous with its aid and resources, but we will not allow people to take advantage of that.
Those who take the initiative to stand proud and exemplary among their peers will be recognised in the Academy’s Award Ceremony.
Rewards:
Duel Master: The Champion of Lughnasadh dueling tournament is given this award.
Darkmire Wizard: The Winner of the Darkmire Tournament is given this award.
Beastmaster: Students who have slain numerous dangerous creatures or tamed a significant beast are honored with this reward.

Artifact Hunter: Students who return numerous artifacts or return a truly substantial artifact are honored with this reward.
