I'm not sure if there is any information on churches or other religious buildings. But if you only want a church and/or a tavern you have a few options.

• You could start the game at launch as the family member of an NPC family of a church or tavern and have them will you the buildings (I think that is the first tier)

• You could start the game with exposition and some EP and build those buildings on your own land or rented land and own them from the start (the tier that gives expo)

• Or you could do what I'm doing which is to run a town with vineries and a tavern (baron tier or any pledge higher if you wish)

• You could also buy some EP with the base game to get into exposition later and pledge to a mayor or baron to be their citizen and get a confirmation on the buildings that way

It really all depends on if you want to start the game at launch or build the game at exposition.
