Imagine dog sleds with archers in the back zooming past invading army stuck in snow firing arrows, also this would be great option for survivalist skills in tundra and alpine biomes,
While there may different options such as perhaps dog sleds or skiing in the cold country, the Devs did say (and have shown a picture in an early Journal) of Gliders (not flying machines).
