After much though I have come up with the perfect Swamp folk mount - the HypoFullo! A cross between the African hippopotamus and the Asiatic water buffalo.

This creature is a prolific breeder that is semiaquatic inhabiting rivers, lakes and swamps. A non territorial herbivorous herd animal. Its fur covered, 2 inch thick tough skin excretes a substance that inhibits bacteria growth and insects but its subcutaneous fat layer is very thin making this a warm lands creature. They typically live up to 50 years in the wild but longer domesticated.

Average adults can move up to 5mph submerged only needing to rise to surface to breath every 3 to 5 minutes. On land they can hit a respectable 20mph. Scout and courier varieties can travel much faster on water and land.The massive head holds crushing jaws with incisors over one foot in length and wicked curved horns up to five feet on battle varieties..

The creatures typically stand about 5.5 feet at the shoulder with a body length of 10 feet. They weigh in at 3,000 pounds for females and 9,000 pounds for males. Battle varieties can double this weight height and length. Fortunately, these creature feed on the natural vegetation of the swamp.
