BlueBelle's (Mel's) CoE Art

I'm just finishing up my post grad in Game Art and Animation and I've been working on some stuff in my free time so here is some of the art I've made so far for CoE :)

* These next 2 are some concept renders that were made with Maya, Zbrush, and Renderman. I'm still playing around with them though. They were inspired by the amazing Duchy of Bloodoak in the NA-E Kingdom of Bordweall (although I did sneak some bluebells in as well)*

This is an image for the Duchy of Teyrnas Rin and Duke Ircai in NA-E Kingdom of Bordweall using their symbol made with Maya, Renderman, Ivy Generator, and Quixel. Special thanks to Primus Dedumo for letting me know my sleep deprived mind had gotten mixed up and typed the wrong Duchy originally! Enjoy Teynras Rin!

Happy Holidays everyone! I was commissioned by Vongu to make a sort of holiday greeting card for Bordweall featuring some of the RP characters in our discord and thought I would share it with you all :) These images were made using Maya, Zbrush, Quixel Suite and Photoshop with some textures from Gametextures.com and Textures.com and all put together in Marmoset (whew that's a lotta software)

Enjoy! xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Good job, Bluebelle! You should show us more of your digital painting, it looks good. =D

I have to stick with my digital illustration stuff, last time I tried anything more complex in Rhino 3D I had my arse kicked haha - I wish I was more skilled in 3D modelling, it's super cool!

I do not believe the Dras rock hard abs will protect him much from swords and spears.

I like what you have done, but no one ever learns from pure praise :D so here's a few critical remarks about your work...

i think there is something a little off about the Neran male, which i think is the belt, as it's not centered, which gives it the appearance of being loose fitting and needs tightening. Just my personal opinion but from the type of Neran you have drawn it feels like they are very formal in their casual clothing, but the belts positioning counter-acts that a little, making them look kind of rogue-like.

For the Dras male, I get what you have done with them visually but it just feels like they should be wearing an undershirt. You've made it look like they are a reptile hunter and thus should be in and out of wet conditions, and considering this aspect of their daily life, their chest armour is not going to fair well on bare skin, especially since the Dras have sensitive skin as it is. Not really a drawback of how it's drawn, just an observation of what imo the character would be wearing.

Otherwise i like what you have done. I think the only thing letting you down (if anything) is characters feet. It's something on each of the pictures that probably could use a little work to perfect. It's not really anything do do with the shading or colouring at all, it's more so to do with the angle the feet point and the positioning in relation to the characters body positioning, as some don't look like they are properly supporting the character so that they stand up.

Anyway, hope you take this on board as more of a critical review than anything negative :D. When i was in Art College way back when, we always had to criticise each others work as a way of helping each other improve, so i hope the above didn't come across as me hating on you. So anyway yeah, keep it up and keep posting stuff so we can all see :D
