Size of Settlements

Do we have an idea of how many PC's and NPC's will be in an average size settlement?

It depends on your biome as well, you'd probably have more people in an average Neran settlement compared to a Weard settlement.

Also, no one can be sure of the PC to NPC ratio per settlement. There's too many variables from server to server and from now till the game starts.

Tribes will also vary settlement numbers too. As they all have different life styles and settlement types.

Very true. Look at the Brudvr for example . You can expect smaller settlement and less people . The Neran on the other side you will have bigger settlement with more people in it.

If you look at the tribe info on the website. It will give you an indication on what type of culture/life style and settlement types they will have.

Hope it helps

Average town is 75 people.

No. That's the minimum according to https://chroniclesofelyria.com/blog/6549/DJ-18-Kingdom-Land-Management

You're correct. My mistake.

This fanmade visual reference can be quite useful!

I believe they have said they estimate it will be about 1/2 npcs to pcs. I'm betting it ends up closer to 2/3 or 3/4 npc just due to the need for spouses and the production of children.

Initially it will be very player heavy, but if each player has 2-3 children, then each generation will begin expanding more npcs. If the children die off, players will likely have MORE children to make sure they have an heir to inherit their stuff. So very quickly the generations will flush out into cousins/extended family that(even if players intermarry and tie the npcs back into the pc lineage) will eventually grow to a point where most players 'should' have 3/4 family members per player in their family. This is assuming NPCs will marry and have children on their own. If they don't, which would break realism a bit, then the ratio may stay closer to 1/2

That said, the use of "average settlement" depends on the size/type. The post above is useful for a general idea, but I think we'll see cities with decent player groups moving in boom to large towns or cities relatively quickly.

Yeah, there's 1-2 things slightly out of place, a typo somewhere if I recall, but it's overall a great reference for several things, some of which that aren't really displayed much of anywhere else.

Oh! And if I recall correctly, a couple weeks ago I passed by the community where this fella made that graphical reference and he's making new ones and I think possibly updating this one. Will have to look into that again sometime.
