Swapping Tribes

Ok for this topic I want you to choose any of the starting 8 tribes that you dislike the most, why and who would you replace them with from the other 4 discoverable tribes.

My choice would be The Waerd as they are somewhat of a communist tribe even tho it has been stated by devs to an extent they are not. I dont like how they can go into each others houses and take each others possessions as this will probably lead to issues with non rp players. I would swap them out with the Erishe as they could easily replace them in their arid biomes.

I would replace waerd with erishe because the erishe seem like they would fit on the starting continent better. The waerd just seem too alien for the start.

I think the wards concept of free ownership will be worked on/changed though testing. However the Erishe do seem cool.

I can agree with this, though even more specifically I feel like the Kypiq are so disparate in their capabilities that they don't fair well in the scheme of things wedged among other fullscale warring nations. I feel like Kypiq would be better served keeping their peaceful ways in a more private place removed from years of savagery. I don't dislike the Kypiq at all, I just don't see them on equal footing with the others and I feel like unless they were ignored, their culture would be abruptly crushed and I don't want that. Dras might follow suit, but we know too little about how their civilization actually looks to say anything decisive.

It's free use not free ownership. You can't just walk into someone's house and take their stuff out of the house. That was explained in another thread.

I would replace the neran with the owem. The neran are super boring and offer nothing new.

I sympathize with the choice. It's not ever going to happen, though, because the Neran are a hook for most of the the medieval fantasists out there. The bulk of the game's current imagery fits a Neran milieu best. Jousting is a specifically Neran pursuit, cap-a-pied plate mail a predominately Neran style for Neran heavy cavalry, stone castles a predominately Neran defense, the character images from before kickstarter predominately Neran, etc., etc.

Still, get rid of Neran as there is nothing new and exiting about boring standard humans and lets have a go at Yoru becose I like blue skin and a challanging lifestyle. Although Mydarri would be a more popular choise, and I do like them too.. Anything to give a slightly more fantasy feel so it does not look so bland.

I don't want to replace the waerd due to their skill set but I would like it if they had waerd didn't believe in the community sharing. Also, I want to play a tribe that has darker skin(personal pref.) and the only tribe that fits that is the waerd and they have some niche mechanic that I rather not take part in..No other tribe has something like this and no other tribe fits what I want either..If they made an extra tribe that were close to the waerd without the community mechanic I would be happy, I would even put money towards it.

when they were announced I was very interested in the mydarri, so I would gladly sacrifice any tribe for them instead.

Here's the problem. There isn't a tribe that I don't find interesting RP hooks. Most say that the Neran are boring, but it is all in how you play it.

I guess that IF I had to replace a race, it would be for OOC reasons. As I am barely 5'2"IRL, I am tired of short jokes, so if I had to replace a race, it would be the shortest replaced by the tallest.

no no no no no no no no no no

I'll elaborate.

The Waerd are not communists. They are communal. There's a difference.

To The Waerd, there is no "walking into each other's homes and take their possessions". If you are into "things" and think having things brings you power, then The Waerd are not for you.

With the gossip, rumor, and information system being in place, there will be valuables that aren't materials, and The Waerd will likely be the best at acquiring it.

The Waerd are not a materialistic people. What's important to them is information, lore, stories. THAT will likely not be something someone can just acquire walking into someones home.

That will likely be something of value to every other tribe.

Now THIS is a very exciting point for me. Even though I'm not interested in playing a Waerd because of my own tribal motivations, this is the first comment which has really piqued my interest in their niche mechanic.

Yeah let’s all hate on the commies because capitalism solves all the worlds problems.

I actually like the socialist structure of the weard and it can be very powerful. The weard are the most underrated tribe imo and I would love for them to stay the same just so the naysayers can be proven wrong by the few players who actually like the different playstyle of the weard.

I actually like the starting choices, they make sense and although I would have liked for the mydarri to be unlocked at start I do not want to swap out anything, because I like how every tribe offers something unique and the dynamic of them at the start makes sense.

However that being said if I had to choose I’d still swap the weard for the erishe or Owem but just because the world isn’t ready for the weard yet.
And the weard is totally like the faceless men in GoT and they are on the other continent as well. I also think that the owem may be a good choice for the starting tribe because there’s no real option for dark skinned avatars other then owem IIRC.

I'd love the Yoru or Erishe to be playable, but I don't think I could replace one tribe with another.

The Waerd aren't socialists.

Socialism is when the government takes things from people who are successful and distributes those things to literally everyone. (or more often than not, just leaves everyone with basically nothing and hordes it all in the coffers of the ones who run the government)

The Waerd believe that they are all literally the same person. Anything that one Waerd owns, every Waerd owns. It isn't an economic system, it is a religious belief. They still make goods and sell them to people, just not to other waerd because you can't sell something to yourself.

I am pretty sure the weard families only extend to their settlements, not to the whole weard. There may even be competing weard settlements. And the weard value information more than possessions. They’re quite literally the faceless men from GoT.
