Misc questions.

1.) I know there'll be multiple kingdoms, and likely multiple forms of currency, official and unofficial alike, but how are those going to be handled? Are you going to have a fiat currency with recognized mints? Would we be seeing international currencies recognized by the law?

2.) What happens when you take a bunch of players from 21st-century America and put them in medieval Europe as over-educated farmers? Won't we just rush to the main inventions that changed the era? How long will it take for someone to recreate the Gutenberg press or the Jacquard Loom (inventions guaranteed to revolutionize existing industries)? Is there any guarantee that the Kingdoms won't be overturned almost immediately, seeing as most of the players will have absolutely no familiarity with life under a monarchy?

3.) How are logistics and information to be protected? The moment a scout spots a cart, players familiar with the land are getting word of where it is and where it's headed through VOIP. There's no delay between the information being received, and being spread. Same with military positions, formations, and spies. Nevermind the possibility of streaming.

4.) How unusual will the chemistry system of the game have to be to prevent a situation where we find gunpowder and coal early on and immediately begin using them because of their real-life success?

5.) War profiteering is guaranteed to happen. Given all the possibilities for monetary or fiscal chaos/exploitation in the case of a war, how could someone on the ground prevent a war? Would we see false flag attacks happen in-game to justify large-scale wars?

One thing we have to understand about the research and development system, is that no matter what we want to invent, we would need the devs to implement it. So without the input of the dev, despite we all have a clear vision on what we want to create, we still would not be able to make it.

This ensures the game world is consistent with its theme and limit the impact of historical information in Elyria. Other than that, here's my answer to your questions:

1) Mechanism on currency / international trade are still not finalised.

2) No one can expect how a 21st century person will act in medieval time, nor will Elyria mirror all aspects of medieval life. Therefore, I don't think it is possible to give you a proper answer. For your concern on technology, please refer to the first paragraph.

3) Information in your context aren't protected. Logistics though will still play a part as survival elements and distance wil both play a role in game. We have no clue how big of a challenge they will pose until we enter the balancing phase of development. For now, just assume they will be strong enough to make you stop and think.

In short, you can report where the target is, but you would still need to get there.

4) Please refer to first paragraph.

5) Please elaborate on this. Never should anyone be able to prevent a war on his/her own. A war should always be a group effort.

Never argue with an idiot, cuz he will drag you down to his level and beat you with experience.

Thank you for your response.

With regards to number 5, I mean something along the lines of trying to organize a protest or tax strike. Basically, getting a group together to prevent a war in that case.

Regarding nr 3.

In CoE identity is a thing. Who you are ais not a 100% to everyone else. With the right skils and effort you could have several identities.

This mean you will want to get information "face to face" to minimize the risk of getting fooled. Who said theu saw a cart and so on.

1) pre-existing currencies will exist, and likely have their own defaulted values based on a historical precedent. That will be the initial state of the game, now imagine throwing in monarchs, banks, insurance organizations, trade markets, and a large number of players who are going to throw off the balance of industry and you will understand the complex scenario that is about to unfold when the game finally launches. Expect currency and trade to shift dramatically with the introduction of players to the Elyrian environment.

2)Technology is gated both by the developers and by the ambitions of players. The developers have to approve and implement all technological advances, which essentially mean that we cannot evolve technology faster than the developers allow.

3)Voice comms outside the game will work great for players, but OPCs and NPCs will still need direct in-game communication, and that will alter the way people have to play. In some circumstances your player may be limited by what they know in game as well. As others have mentioned deception may be a skill employed.

4)Gunpowder must be discovered, its not a naturally occurring compound, this it can be limited via technology advancement systems. Likewise most of the impactful uses of coal must be discovered.

5)Wars, like in real life will be a bit more complicated than just "random noble decides to raise his army and attack". Casus Belli will be required for formal war declarations, and those will be limited by the game engine.

Hope all this info helps.
