Acronyms Guide

I wanted to start a topic to help new members understand what's happening in the forums. Since I didn't see anything else like this I've created this post to act as a compilation list for CoE acronyms, since they're different in every game. Please feel free to reply with your own additions and I will add them to this list.

I mean, I picked up on it, but I admit it would be nice to have the resource:

KS: Kickstarter

SG: Stretch Goal (for Kickstarter)

SBS/SS: SoulBound Studios

Maybe better to list it in column rather than on a single line :)

SL : Spark of Life

hmm.. haven't seen anything more I guess.. Maybe add the generics acronyms :

RP : Role play

RPG : Role playing game

I would add the generics, but I'm assuming most people know what they are from playing other games. If enough people ask I can definitely add them, but there are definitely a lot.

How about:

NPC - Non-Player Character. Generated by the game.
PVP - Player vs. Player. Mostly used in the context of combat with other PCs.
PVE - Player vs. Environment. Mostly used in the context of combat with NPCs.

OPC - Offline Player Character

5/20/2016 9:47:45 PM #11

Game Specific that was into the last Design Journal :

CB - Casus Belli

5/20/2016 10:42:21 PM #12

Just gotta say none of those are acronyms they are all initialisms.

Acronym is like NASA or WOW where you actually say the word.

If you say the each letter like PVP or PVE it's an initialism.

Obviously I've been gone for a long time, but I thought I might bump this and start paying attention to it again, since I still see the value in this post.

Might be an idea to provide a few links for some of these with regards to what they mean. For example KS - Kickstarter could link to the Kickstarter page, and SL - Spark of Life and CB - Casus Belli to the dev journals that talk about them. I figure having the shortened term be defined here in some way is probably more helpful than someone saying "CB? What's that? Oh a thread of acronyms. Casus Belli? What's that?"

If you have a list available I would be happy to add them, Unfortunately, at this time CoE isn't quite something I'm focused on enough for me to find them all.
