Ballad of a Broken Baker

He had enough.

Barry the Baker was really just a laborer for a local bakery. He worked hard and was very efficient. But he lacked the personable quality that the owner liked.

A new person was hired a year after he started working there. He had turned this dump of a bakery into a well known location, due to his work ethic and diligence. So naturally, they needed more help.

The owner, a woman with a fake personality, quickly took a liking to the new hire. Perhaps it was a mysterious bond between two redheads. Even though she was new, the owner started giving her more responsibility and authority. Indeed, even though Barry was a better baker, this new girl soon became his superior.

How many hours had he devoted to perfecting his technique? The absurdity. How many nights did he sacrifice to help this place turn a profit? Too many...

But not anymore.

This’ll be my last bake Barry thought as he ate a delicious pie he created. He coughed and was slightly disgusted as he pulled a long red strand of hair from his teeth.
