Qucik Description
The Bard's College of Terenia, based in Tenarath, is a school for bardic arts with a sinister touch. Functioning as a school and martial training ground, it's intended for those interested in art education (bardic skills) and/or in specialising in support/intelligence gathering skills. It sees itself as playing a vital part in preserving terenian culture and order, being directly affiliated with the Terenian Council.
Talented individuals from far and wide can share their work, hone their skills or improve upon them by learning from prestigious Magistrates and eachother.
Lore
The Terenian Civil War took a heavy toll on the common folk and their rulers, and although trade was returning to normal, as the Terenian Legion was stretched thin, the cities and settlements throughout the duchy were undermanned. Security and public safety was on an all time low, perfect circumstances for criminal cartels to rise and (in a gruesome way) shine, extorting blood and money from the locals, while putting pressure on nobility demanding “safety money”. Our leaders were in a very difficult position, as they wanted to avoid a second civil war, this time against these criminal organizations.
August Layne, now commonly known as August Snowpaw, was sick and tired of all the fighting and political conflicts the glorified “Rebirth of Terenia” had brought , and simply wanted to spend his years peacefully with art and whores. However this sluggish lifestyle shall not be granted, as such supposed “incompetence” greatly displeased his elder brother, and head of House Layne, Grenric. In fact his brother was so displeased with August, that he, without a second thought, actually banished him from his family, for dishonoring their legacy. On that day, stripped from any titles and possessions (safe for a few items like his trusty lute and sword, which had served him well during the civil war), August Snowpaw left Rahlmont and travelled to the Capital of Terenia, Tenarath. Here he stayed in a run-down tavern where he earned his stay by humbly playing the lute...
It was 3 months later that two letters arrived. The first one came through regular mail (not questioning how the courier even found him), and bore the royal mark of the newly founded Terenian Council.
The second letter was found laying on his desk, which was sent from a so-called “Viper”, the supposed head of the intelligence branch of Terenia, under the authority of the Duke of Terenia…
A year has passed since then, and the newly founded Bard's College, based in Tenarath was hosting students from all over the Empire, commoners and nobles alike would study the arts, and not only those of music and jesting, but the melodies of whispers and the dance in shadows.
During the years, the work of criminal cartels mysteriously ceased, and the duchy was on the way to prosperity, but all knew that dark clouds were looming on the horizon, and that they carry a thunderstorm never seen before in the petty history of oh-so-small and humble Terenia, and soon the hearts and loyalty of all peoples of the Demalion Empire shall be put to the test, so they may weather this devastating storm...
Structure
The College as a whole is under the jurisdiction of the Head Director, who's working directly for the Terenian Council. The College will be divided into departments, which will be run by lesser Directors, who'll supervise the Magistrates (teachers) in these departments (this largely depends on the final skill trees of CoE). Each subject will a have a Magistrate assigned to supervise it, but students may also pursue individual research and studies.
