Tips for settlement, LFG

Hello i'm starting as a mayor in NA-W and need some advice/orientation, i understand i'll be starting with a small settlement i'm guessing a hamlet which are 3 parcels for 10 people and grow it from there right?, i'm looking to start as a Janoa no matter what and i sort of want to make my settlement a combat/mercenary/assassin oriented kinda place how possible is that, and you think there will be people looking to grow a place like that?, also will i have my own house?, ughh i'm so excited for this game the wait is getting painful

Hi, Ghastly. If you have a pledge package you could start with a hamlet, town or city, depending on where you are and what's available when it's your turn to select a settlement. You will be able to grow your settlement.

Mayor packages come with a fully furnished villa. Check out your inventory.

As to what you'll do with your town, it's up to you. The things you build will draw PCs and NPCs. If you want to build a Tailor town, build a bunch of spinning and weaving shops, etc.

I'm happy to hear how excited you are. I'm very excited, too. :)

mayor packages come with a villa but also the family you spawn into will have a family home you could inherit.

If your only criteria is Janoa I'd recommend looking at the 6th kingdom in NA-W. Once domain selection happens the southernmost kingdom which is Janoa and To'resk will be Kingdom 6.

If you're not aliened to any specific area in that kingdom you'll probably be able to get the settlement size you want because you'll have more options.

I might be wrong, but I don't think "Mayor" packages come with a Villa. I think that Villas are only available at the next level -- Magistrate.

I also think that, provided the county is not overpopulated, it is unlikely that a Mayor will have a hamlet. Hamlets are unregistered (meaning they are not prebuilt) and are built by players wherever three parcels are linked, possibly because a player buys or adversely possesses three parcels, or possibly because three players get one each. (Whenever three or more of you are gathered with one name, there's a hamlet.)

I'm not even sure if mayors could get a village (which are also unregistered). As long as there are sufficient towns, I think every mayor should get a town at least -- and I have not heard that there is a shortage of towns in comparison with mayors (but that could change as people keep buying mayor, magistrate, and governor packages).

(OK -- rereading that journal, I think mayors might be stuck with villages and hamlets depending on how the counties are set up.)

In the 2nd Kickstarter Anniversary we unlocked:
"Upgraded Housing - Houses in the Aristocracy and Nobility Packages are getting an upgrade! (ex: All Mayors get a villa, all accounts with a villa get a manor, and all accounts with a manor get a grand-villa)"

So, Mayors get a villa now if they completed packages by the end of May, 2018.

Assuming the OP had mayor before that event ended. Then sure.

I got mayor last week so that means i wont get the house/villa?,

Sorry for the misinformation, Ghastly. I forgot about the participation in kickstarterversary being a requirement.

Guess you'll have to build a house! Or buy one with EP.

Beathan, pretty sure Snipehunter said somewhere that it's possible to wind up with a hamlet if that's all that's left.

You are still a landholder, just like anyone else with Bloodline or higher, you just won't start with a special mayor villa on the side.

Eh I'm fine not getting a pre-built Villa i'd rather create one myself than have my family home be some pre-build same for every race hulk of an over decorated building. something you might want to keep in mind is that apparently we will have the option of custom building our residences in this game.

Building one yourself might provide greater freedoms. I don't recall, but I believe they said renovations are possible and allow you to add rooms or floors.

If you want to focus on combat/mercenary/assassin i suggest becoming a baron. which is a contract with the duke to help protect the dutchy. they provide you with food and goods and in exchange you provide them an army.

If you want Janoa but dont want to live in the jungle then join Ashland and work with me to bring a solid Janoan population up to wherever we end up.
