HEAL's primary concern is with the well-being of the citizens of Luna. If you're in any way interested in any of this vision, whether as a healer, teacher, researcher or crafter, please message @Carewen#0532 or @Doc Glocke#1596.
The foundation of HEAL is concerned with the healthcare within cities and towns in particular. Hospitals as well as coordination of public health initiatives will be at the forefront of their efforts. One aspect of healthcare that is often overlooked concerns those citizens that live far away from a hospital. Rural Healthcare will be focused on efforts to make sure that healthcare is available regardless of how far you are from the nearest HEAL Hospital.
One of HEAL's primary goals is to ensure that those interested in healing have access to the right expertise and resources in order to further their career in their quest to heal others. The sub-council of Medical Education will be focused on the development, delivery and evolution of medical curriculum and techniques.
At the heart of education, HEAL also focuses on providing resources to support cutting edge medical research. The sub-council of Medical Research is focused on providing the environment that best supports practical and visionary research into medicine.
The sub-council of Military Medicine intends, through a thorough understanding of military needs and requirements, to research and develop medical technology and procedures to support the Vornair military. This ranges from Field Hospital design and procedures, to Military First Aid Kits and training for Medical Field Personnel.
The goal of delivering excellence and compassion in healthcare would not be possible without the medical supplies required as a part of setting wounds and administering first aid. The sub-council of Medical Production's mandate is to ensure that the implementation and improvement of the logistics required to support all healthcare related efforts undertaken by HEAL.
We thought it would be worth sharing some more details about HEAL. As you've already read, HEAL is a Guild. However, it's also an organization by virtue of it being a teaching hospital. What does this mean?
Well, on the most practical level we'll be investing significant Exposition Points into both the guild and the organization. While game mechanics and details around Kingdoms have yet to be finalized, it is already known that Exposition Points will be used to help build many things, from cities, to infrastructure, to...you guessed it, guilds and organizations. While many players rightly enjoy combat and adventuring, a Kingdom can benefit from support on many levels. Investing in a high-quality guild and organization focused on healing will undoubtedly be good for both the County and those players involved. A big part of my motivation for investing in a Count package was to contribute to creating an amazing game experience for everyone involved. I've played many Healers in many MMOs (from Raid healer to PUG healer) and this vision struck me as a great way to co-create with many like-minded healers.
We are making some assumptions at this point, but our guess is that the more nobility invest in guilds and schools the better returns they will offer in terms of access to resources, equipment and research. We plan on spending Exposition Points to build a guild and school that will offer starting players to get started with a good guild to help them advance their skills.
On the organizational side of things, the Teaching Hospital will be all about helping people. This will likely result in some meaningful story opportunities to make all those involved to feel good about themselves. And on top of that, Hospitals use resources. They need medical supplies, herbs, and all manner of equipment related to healing. In turn, this will require contracts for crafters and traders to ensure that the best ingredients and materials are made available for this noble work.
The way to look at this Guild and Teaching Hospital is that they are tied to both the history and reputation of the Count Mortimer and the County of Westmorshire. From an out-of-character point of view this is why we'll be investing so heavily in both projects. We also plan on contracting traveling parties taking their medical skills around the Duchy (or further afield if there is interest), to create story opportunities for those players involved. Think of it like this - as a healer you could, if you wanted to engage in this story-project, get paid to go around the Duchy, increasing your character's reputation and medical skills as you do so. And when not engaged, either through choice or wanting a break, you could use the School to further your research and gain access to more advanced medical techniques and be involved in breakthroughs!
HEAL started as a hospital, became a teaching hospital out of necessity, and then a Guild was formed when the need for researching medicine was identified. The history of these organizations is intrinsicly tied to the County.
Any player that wishes to be involved for the story, crafting and/or professional experience is certainly welcome. We are currently engaged in Focus Groups to expand our vision for HEAL. Following this we will be recruiting Department Directors and expanding the HEAL Council. If in reading this vision you'd like to be more involved, as well as invest time, please join our Discord, ask questions and share any thoughts you may have.
