Spooky CoE stories (OCE RP)

This is just some snippets from some of the action happening in the Oceania (Australia) Kingdom Aequitas. Figured I'd share it for the fun of it.

This is from a RolePlaying channel in our active Discord, it sort of 'plays' like a legit roleplaying game.

[As the region blackens with early night the wind stops and the snow free falls to the ground and starts to collect. The clouds were directly overhead velvet in 'texture' from the bright moon they had hiding behind. The only chance for light now was from fire.

It was still only early in the night, but these times were known for Pteroguin attacks. Swooping through streets screaming, immediately silencing their prey and all noise as they vanish back into the black ocean... and those were the small ones, the ones that hunt in groups, still able to stare a Brudvir down face to face. There was an Alpha Pteroguin with many scars that had started to visit, but it always hunted alone. To make it worse she had taken to perching on the tallest point, allowing her to watch over the swarm. The Castle of Caester.]

'Random Player' (unaffiliated) Story

He had been hunting too long, he pushed his luck this time. Pushing his favourite horse to the limits. The Neran rider could already hear Pteroguin cries from the mountains hiding in the abyss at his back. His life was on the brink. His heart was pounding like it was pushing through his chest, sweat dripped into his eyes even in the frosty air. The adrenaline was unreal. The need to survive completely took over his mind and perceptions, all he could hear was hooves blasting the cobblestone road and Pteroguin screams. His blurred tunnel vision honed in far down the road, desperately attempting to get a glance at the settlement gates which had not yet lit the torches after the wind... and then... he sees a giant black figure standing perfectly still on the side of the road, and in the same second his face rode by its beak. To him, everything just goes quiet. The Pteroguin stood lifelessly still, but somehow, that was worse. His horse carries the wide eyed 'dead inside' mann in through the gates, its speed and endurance got him here. Its nerves of steel saved him from the Pteroguin, and he knew it. The only tether left to sanity in this place was his loyal mate, who never let him down since he was a boy. The horse parks up by the house and the Neran runs inside to catch a quick breath.

The young Neran hunter scrambles through his home. He forgot where he stored his lead for the horse, he always hated organizing and would boast of his carelessness to people at the Tavern. He would never make that mistake again. His hands shaking somehow helps him stumble across them in a draw, he fumbled on the right place. Immediately, the Neran sprints to his front door and takes a breath to calm down. "It's going to be okay..." he says as he collects himself and swings the door open, for the last time. A black figure, heaping with steam, gurgling, heaving with excitement hangs over his life long mate and best friend. The guts and blood somehow strewn all over his doorstep. This time the world begins to ring, and all he can hear breaking through the ring is his slowing heart beat and the Pteroguin. He takes a step forward as if he is ready to die with him... but the Pteroguin slowly raises its head and eyes him down with a sideways glance. If not for this, the Neran would've walked into the screeching nightmare's talons with a cold embrace.

Instead... he turns back, his eyes still glued to the horror. The Pteroguin returns to the gurgling, and the ripping, and the crushing... in a manner so base, lifeless and apathetic it simply cracked him. This world would never look the same again... and all of this... for one last fox pelt...

All he knew for certain was that tomorrow... he was selling his house for something fast enough to get to the nearest Hrothi tunnel city before sundown. A place he would spend the rest of his days hiding from the open air.

Hope you enjoyed! Happy Halloween!
