Around 20 on average I believe was the last stated ~

That's significantly higher than what I was under the impression were working on it.

Is there a source for that?

though it has been a year or so since Bordweall bought lunch for the SBS staff, when we did so it was for 27 people

it's currently 25 people and they're looking to hire 2 people.

Once more, where are these numbers coming from?

my number came directly from the studio

I guess I am just surprised. All the various comments about small studio, and small team working on things - 25ish people is just higher than I expected.

Interesting, though. My fault for assuming.

My source came from serp on the CoE discord ~ I didn’t dig too deep I just know it was somewhere between 20-30

it's all relative

when I was flown out by zenimax to chat with them for 3 days in baltimore about ESO, they had two huge floors of a large office building, their own canteen, 150 person movie theatre style auditorium with stage and movie screen etc

i think they had 300+ employees at the time

Sounds like a fun time. How’d you land a trip like that?

they flew 19 of us out there from across europe and the USA

ESO was tanking heavily about a year after launch (this was a few months before they dropped the monthly subscription)

they approached us, and the criteria seemed to be a combo of several things - leader of a large community, active in the game and community, and knowledgeable about the game

our guild was around 500 strong and we would have a Teamspeak meeting with one or two of the devs every other week where both sides asked questions of each other, gave feedback, made suggestions, expressed concerns etc

it was a fun all expenses paid trip, though it seemed more about them trying to hype up community leaders with the intent that they go back and in turn hype their own respective communities up to try and stop the mass exodus of players from the game rather than address or even discuss any of the well known issues and concerns that were causing the mas exodus

Sounds like fun! Glad ESO stayed around long enough for me to experience it... it’s a beautiful game.

agreed - it was pretty spectacular game in many ways

amazingly disappointing in many others

for me personally their refusal to confront and punish PvP exploiters and the subsequent death of all the Cyrodiil servers drove me away

in fact Paul Sage's words at those meetings to me, when i asked them about plans to confront exploiters were along the lines of "there is no such thing as an exploiter, there are only people utilizing bugs in our code that is our responsibility to fix"

given that it would take them 6-10 weeks to fix game breaking bugs, when i returned from that trip i uninstalled ESO and handed the community over to a friend

I have heard that things have improved somewhat
