Dear Legendary Tavern Owner

I write to you as a last resort as this is a plea to protect the one true Palinyon’s Soup from over exploitation and extinction. I want you to understand the history as I explain its importance and the inevitable destruction of Palinyon Soups ingredients and all those who choose to exploit and ban this sacred ale.

First Explorers

Despite its name, Palinyon Soup is an ale that was first brewed upon the second major discovery of Yondus trees. During the first discovery, Kypiq explorers were initially surprised by the dwarfness of their size as they had never seen such small trees before.

They thought the trees were a variant of grape trees until closer inspection. The grape like shapes dangling from its teal coloured vines under the skinny branches were in fact cocoons. Their outer edge has a slight sapphire glow while the surface of the cocoon changes shades of teal from its vine to its bottom. The bottom being the darkest but still the brightest and most beautiful object in sight.

These, what we now know as Grape Cocoons, were within perfect reach of the explorers who had to stretch slightly to pull one off. They were first struck by the weight of these cocoons. How could these grape-sized cocoons dangle effortlessly without snapping the thin branches. Then they saw the detail of the cocoons. Smooth teal coloured ovals connected with much smaller blood ovals in perfect symmetry with one another.

Examining The Grape Cocoons

Curious to learn more about this new species of plant, the explorers brought two trees and their cocoons back for study. The scientists studying these trees had died never finding out much about them. Most likely because they were tasked with engineering new weaponry and other technological advancements.

What they did find however was that while the cocoon wasn’t edible, the little blood ovals nestled in between each “grape” were not part of the cocoon. They were its food. There was no indication that these blood ovals were produced by the cocoon. Upon this discovery they were called red ovals. These red ovals didn’t taste like blood but more like the tangerines from the south. But they were too small to be used as food. Instead, these ovals were mixed in with water to add a nice flavour. Scientists went to extreme lengths to find new discovery’s such as whether these could cleanse unsafe water but to no effect.

When rumours swirled about the Yondus tree, the community quickly realised these plants were a gift for us. It made perfect sense. The Grape Cocoons were not too close to the ground that floods could destroy them, not too high up that we can’t reach them and there were no signs of animals or insects feasting on them. Leaving the cocoons perfectly intact. The location of these trees was well-known but difficult to get to. This was a sign that Fae did not want us all to go there for whatever reason. That she did not want it to be a meeting place, or to build new homes there, but clearly she was fine with us taking them. At the time, and to this day, we haven’t seen any disasters on the scale that Fae would bring forth had she been upset with us.

The Second Discovery and its Subsequent Revelation

The brewing of Palinyon Soup didn’t begin until explorers to the Yondus Valley made a new discovery. Further afield the initial discovery lay clusters of Yondus trees that dotted the river alongside small, slow flying birds flaunting their glowing blue tone as they playfully swooped the crystal blue water. These Yondus trees were taller and more matured. Loosely wrapped around their thin branches were creamy white vines that grew from the tree trunk. The ends of these vines wrapped themselves tightly around every teal vine of each Grape Cocoon hanging along the branch.

It was later determined that these white vines are the cocoons food source at a mature stage because the red ovals were completely gone. The white vines would later be named Paeshi. The explorers pulled one of the vines out of the tree trunk and saw its roots were bright white ovals. Though slightly larger, they looked the same as red ovals but oozed like a creamy yoghurt in one’s mouth. The two ovals would later be renamed Sub Lintal and Prime Lintal to distinguish their life stages.

When explorers noticed some cocoons had split, they came to the sudden realisation that Bluebirds break out from Grape Cocoons. They wondered why the scientists studying those cocoons never mentioned that Bluebirds were burrowed inside. To date, no cocoon hatchling has been witnessed. We don’t know how many Bluebirds are born from the cocoon as we can’t see them from the outside either.

Thus Pa-lin-yon (Paeshi, Lintal, Yondus) Soup was brewed from mother nature’s finest ingredients. They commented on how it was not like other ale they tasted before, with some foolhardy enough to say other ale tasted better. But Fae forgives them. They didn’t realise at the time this was a drink that was meant to be consumed as a means to appreciate all of the work Fae has done to bring us the beauty of mother nature.

What they did learn however was that consuming this drink would fill you for longer. This was the third and final discovery and its revelation soon lead to the realisation that the Yondus tree was a gift from Fae. Palinyon’s Soup became popular in Kypiq society for two major reasons, it reduced food consumption and it was the only sanctified way to praise our beautiful Goddess every day. We can actively praise and thank Her without having to wait for the organised rituals to show our devotion. Every day we remind her of our appreciation.

The Ale and its Gift

Palinyon Soup was the most descriptive name the ale could be given at the time. The creamy light pink ale gives off a very faint sapphire glow in a darker environment. Which only adds to the spiritual experience. In its final stage, before the Sub Lintals are added, the ale is a white creamy colour before the red liquid is dispersed and dissolves creating a very light pink soup.

It tastes like the ingredients it’s made from, the rubbery Paeshi blends with the juicy tangerine and yoghurt flavoured Lintals. The after-taste is sacred. While most have not seen a Yondus tree, they can envision one very vividly as they sit in the present moment. Emboldened with Fae’s serenity. At one with Her existence.

Drinking this is best enjoyed alone with the presence of others in the room or tavern having the same experience. Mixing Paeshi with Prime Lintal produces the thick soup texture. Travellers dislike this texture very much but you cannot remove one or the other as this would be disrespectful to Her.

The texture does not feel right in the mouth, but upon learning the origins of its ingredients and the deity in which it was inspired by, visitors sense a spiritual affection they haven’t experienced before. Fae is so forgiving she brings warmth to those who don’t believe.

Fae Weeps For Her Creations

Sometimes when brewed incorrectly, the texture is more liquidy. Brewers are punished for such an unforgiving mistake. Over the decades of making such mistakes, the Waerd had somehow picked up a variation of Palinyon Soup. Despite our two tribes being under one banner, relations will always remain neutral so long as they continue to commit forgery on our designs.

They insultingly create a variant of this sacred ale yet give it the same name. Travellers prefer the Waerd Soup, which doesn’t have Paeshi and is less soupy, more red than pink and with a stronger sapphire glow. We constantly ask for forgiveness and have punished the descendants of the brewers who made those unforgivable mistakes in the hopes to please Her. Had their forefathers not been so reckless, the Waerd may have never brewed this ale.

Many of their visitors don’t know any better than the forged ale. Thus they don’t get to experience the pleasures of bliss with every sip. The whole meaning behind the Palinyon Soup is not in its taste but in its appreciation. In its story, the discovery’s, the revelations and of course the devotion we commit to Fae.

Her Followers Have Been Corrupted

But what makes it hard not to despise the Waerd is not that travellers think this ale is a weird variation of Waerd ale or the disrespect shown by not using Paeshi, but that some of Fae’s followers have been poisoned with irrational thoughts from malicious gossip spreaders. Some fellow Fae devotees believe consuming Palinyon Soup is a form of carnivorism as some Grape Cocoons don’t hatch. The Paeshi they feed on is harvested before winter, when the Bluebirds break out. The truth is Bluebirds do hatch and survive winter without Paeshi. Travellers to the Yondus Valley see them all the time after winter.

Our spineless nobles want to appease the Waerd in the vein hopes of improving relations One consideration being to ban Palinyon Soup. They cite that it hurts the Bluebird population. Our nobles do the job of the Waerd more efficiently, spreading false rumours. They don’t want to ban our sacred ale for diplomatic and moral purposes. They want to stop our harvesting of it so scientists can conduct their research.

I don’t feel anger for them, I fear for them. If Fae can create all that is around us, she can destroy it too. Those who continue to consume Her ale and enjoy its spiritual experiences will be exempt from such force. That which there are many.

Palinyon Soup Needs a Safe Haven

With the threat of scientists wanting to closer examine our sacred trees, and spiritless nobles corrupted by propaganda, the future of Palinyon’s Soup looks bleak. If scientists reach the Yondus Valley, they will trap the Bluebirds and dig the soil. Examine the water and harm all living things around it. All in an effort to find more medicinal and alchemical properties. They may find extraordinary discovery’s, but it will be short lived. For Her distress will cause an intervention none could imagine. She waits and weeps now, but she watches. She watches those who seek to ban Palinyon’s Soup and those who exploit its ingredients. She delays with a heavy heart, allowing time for redemption. Those who don’t redeem won’t be forgiven. Those who were forgiven will be spared.

She will forgive bless her heart. Whoever continues the preservation of the Yondus tree will be rewarded with her protection. There are many of us who will continue devoting to Fae’s gift. This was the only species that was given to us for that purpose. She created other plants to be exploited for medicine. She’s wiser than us. She cares for us. She wouldn’t have put the most essential properties inside the only plant that we use to reciprocate our affection for Her. Many of us have not been corrupted by the wicked and will continue to produce and support the production, legally or illegally.

I make a plea and a promise to you, Legendary Tavern Owner. Allow the continuing of Palinyon’s Soup and the protection of the Yondus tree and She will watch over you and your renowned tavern. As the only source of Her precious gift, She will safeguard you from the bandits, shelter you from the floods and you will withstand all unforeseen circumstances.

Ale that’s to be banned in the future must continue to produce here and any ancient ale that has long gone must be revived here. We will unearth new discovery’s for Her and the lesser Deities.

Event Closing announcement

Announcing the Winners

This event has been... hard to judge.

After much deliberation among tavern staff. Some mock drinks made in replica from the ingredients listed. Or trying to get somewhat similar results to see how they would taste. I do have to say...Purple drank was actually not bad at all...as for Lost effort due to the distinct lack of Love we couldn't quite fix up that brew to the proper standard! Others using ingredients that wouldn't be found anywhere were substituted... sorta..There's just been a lot of drinking going on recently.

With this long deliberation process we have narrowed down the list ,and the list again until we came up with our final two winners in our first ever monthly event!

First prize will be given to Kajoreh with the ancient drink Ishikar! Your drink proved to have quite the history to tell involving the survival of the waerd ,and a little more insight on there way of life ,and how they survived after the gods-war. The forbidden drink made mainly out of goat milk is infused with the brewers blood or animal blood at times!

Truly there heart was poured into this drink..quite literally ,and the story told with it is quite the tale to tell. It fits perfect on the shelf in the Free-Mann. Alone on a high shelf....a very high shelf that will most likely only be brought down due religious custom or through an adventurers morbid curiosity.

Note: I have come to realize Gift cards cannot be given out in increments of 75$. 70$ will be sent ,and a starter pet valued at 6$ will be sent to the first prize winner Kajoreh. I apologize for my negligence ,and will work hard to improve future events.

Second Prize will be given to OddFella with his own tribute to the godess! Palinyon Soup! The story of Palinyon Soup is quite the tale! The original stuff may not taste as good as it's counter part sold in Lesser Taverns ,but in the Free-Mann we honor all kingdoms ,and races ,and proudly will be happy to display Palinyon the original uncorrupted version any day!

Our honorable mention will go to...Zener Atlas with The Five Kingdom Salute! Why have war when we go drink? The Five Kingdom Salute truley is A drink that all kingdoms can come together ,ad celebrate in things they enjoy. From commoners to nobility the drink has found it's use in discussing trades, discussions, arguments, and romance anywhere across the continent in a variety of situations! Zener Atlas will recieve a secret honorable mention prize! Good work Zener!

All the drinks that were created in this event I would be proud to serve any day in the legendary tavern on the NA-East. You guy's have done well ,and beyond then I ever thought when coming up with these hand-crafted brews ,and your talents of being Brew-Masters will take you far in game ,and out!

May you always be with a drink!

I used to overenjoy a rare mixed drink named 'Bruise', I imagine due to the drink being shaken not stirred to bruise the vodka as well as the bruises you wake up with the following morning...

Ive never found the recipe since seeing it in a personal bartender drink flipbook back when I had them but Ive found many drinks that are similar.

Know it contained top shelf Vodka, Blue Curacao for the coloring, and pineapple juice to make you inhale more than you realize before the vodka hits you... think it had bit of gin and maybe sprite to fill the glass?

Drinks that are close/similar contain anything from OJ, lemon juice, or peach schnapps and I think there is a drink called 'Blue Hawaiian Screw' that is just Vodka, Blue Curacao, and Pineapple juice without the gin or sprite.

Can totally see Hrothi getting 'Bruised' with imported pineapple juice and potato made vodka at the very least, possibly being enjoyed by the Dras as they pretty much cant get drunk do to high poison resist.
