COMMUNITY - FORUMS - ANGELICA DOMAINS
[NA][County] LF Barons, Mayors, Goodfolk!

Greetings, Friend!

House Veilfire is currently looking for aristocrats and commonfolk alike – those who share our ideals of peace, liberty and justice. We have no desire for political or military warfare. It is our belief that freeing ourselves of such matters enables us to better explore other aspects of our rich, vibrant world. We are in need of tradesmen, gatherers, explorers, and leaders who share these principles, who are willing to follow the vision of The Kingdom of Blackheart.

If these words resonate with you, House Veilfire cordially invites you to find your home in Peregrine. It would be our greatest honour to serve you.

If you prefer a more conversational way of getting to know us, feel free to visit our Duchy's Discord Channel

Have a great vision for your town/stronghold?

House Veilfire will not coddle you. We do not believe in micromanagement – doing so would be an insult to the abilities of our aristocrats. Thus, we promise to give them more freedom to govern their lands as they wish. The county shall only interfere in inter-barony/township matters (disputes, trade routes, etc.), and in cases where we have strong proof of unjust and unfair leadership. We believe that this will help our barons and mayors achieve the vision they have for their lands. It is, after all, a count's greatest honour to see their vassals prosper – we want no part in petty power struggles, and we believe that a thriving township or a powerful stronghold does good for all of the County. At the end of the day, this is all that matters to us.

Taxes will be minimal and will be adjusted as needed. Taxes will be used mainly for building roads around the county, for surveying our lands (i.e., for map-making and research), and for ensuring that resource regulations are held. No more or no less. Tax rates will be decided democratically -- a council of town representatives (mainly mayors and magistrates, unless they choose to assign proxies) will be tasked with discussing and voting on these matters.

While we value liberty, we also see the importance of community. Our barons and mayors are encouraged to foster and maintain friendly relationships with their fellow aristocrats. Through an official council, they are also welcome to take part in county-wide decisions such as which trade routes to establish, which resources to regulate, and how much we need to tax our people. The council will also help us plan inter-town and even inter-Duchy events/collaborations such as festivals, contests, and tourneys; we believe that community events like these not only bring us closer together, but also increase traffic through our lands, so that we may grow and prosper. This council also gives them the opportunity to raise other concerns about our county, our duchy, or even the kingdom as a whole. This ensures that their people’s voices will not only be heard, but be addressed.

Struck with wanderlust?

Our county rewards those who love to explore. Peregrine is currently offering cartographers, militiamen, scholars and medics the opportunity to traverse Peregrine in order to survey its lands, and chronicle its wonders. Cartographers will be tasked to provide detailed maps of the county, while scholars will identify and document the resources available in the different regions of the land. This is essential in helping Peregrine decide which trade routes to establish. Militiamen and medics will ensure that the group travels unharmed.

As a part of a unit, you will have the opportunity to meet fellow men and women who share your passion for exploration. Your unit will be more or less permanent, as it will be based on overlapping availability of the members. You will also get the chance to name your unit, which will be displayed in the company’s headquarters in the town of Triskell. Those interested in joining the company need not be a resident of Triskell (only of Peregrine, the county), but Triskelleans who would like to join get a free drink at our local tavern!

Do note that this is not a full-time commitment. As such, you are not required to devote all your time into improving the skills required in your respective roles. You will be travelling in groups of four to six, and will be compensated per patrol.

No god rules us

Here in Peregrine, we do not care if you wish to worship Angelica, Luna, melons, or perhaps even no one at all! We judge our people based not on the identity of their gods, but on the quality of their own actions. Peregrine has no state-mandated religion, and there are no plans of this changing in the future.

Churches of all religions are still welcome to build a chapter within our lands -- in fact, one of our cities is proud to be host to the great Firemelon temple. Do note that churches will be required to pay land taxes, and are of course, expected to follow county laws.

Triskell takes its name from the universal symbol of movement – three spirals interlocked to signify human legs in motion. We take this as a sign to move forward, to progress. Triskelleans understand the power of symbolism, and so we have chosen this symbol to represent our vision: to be at the forefront of technology and research, especially in a field that requires movement. Land and naval transportation.

While we believe that everyone has a place in our town, we place most value on those who can contribute to our cause. As such, we will initially put emphasis on recruiting suppliers (merchants, gatherers) and crafters.

We offer communal crafting stations for our citizens. Some stations will start out smaller than others (e.g. scribing), as we will prioritise trades that will help us build the technology required to traverse the earth and the sea. As the town expands, we will, however, see to it that all crafting stations are upgraded and up-to-date. As the town acquires more funds, we will not only be building crafting stations, but research institutes. We will move beyond being experts, and become visionaries.

In order to encourage crafting among our people, we will also give citizens access to pooled resources. We understand that crafting is often a costly endeavour, and so we wish to give enthusiasts a headstart by providing them access to materials they may otherwise have difficulty obtaining. These resources will also be used towards improving structures in our town. In this way, everyone benefits from it - not just crafters. Do note that to prevent abuse, we will be regulating use of these resources.

Of course, in order to pool resources, we must encourage citizens to contribute. Those who donate to our reserve will be given rental discounts in either our town-sponsored lodges, or the marketplace.

Not just a town – but a community

In Triskell, we aim to be a close-knit community founded on lasting friendships. As such, the heart of the town will be an area where good folk can gather and socialise at the end of the day. We encourage musicians, bards, and other performers to come and amaze us with their talents at our town square! Workers may also find their way there at the end of the day, catching a drink at our local tavern. Let the merry-making begin!

And, to make sure that we can get home safely after a night brimming with ale, we are also seeking constables to patrol our streets and help keep everyone safe.

An opportunity to grow and diversify

Our town does not stand for simply building ships, caravans or gliders. Rather, we intend to make use of them. As the town prospers, we will also look into funding expeditions allowing us to traverse the great unknown. As such, scholars, seafarers, cartographers and many others will be needed to help us realise this dream. This diversification will ensure that our great townspeople will always have new ways of seeing and interacting with the world.

For those who would like to simply keep practising their craft, we will not dissuade you. We encourage it, in fact. We would love for you to grow as the town does. Over time, we will establish ministries and town-sponsored guilds for different trades. We will not be implementing this at the beginning because we believe that the ministry leaders should be determined through merit. This ensures that our leaders will be those who have proven themselves capable, reliable, and dedicated.

Interested in joining us?

In the lands of Veilfire, you can be assured that you will not just find a land to settle in. Rather, you will find a home in which you can belong.

If you wish to join us, kindly let us know by responding to this post, or sending us a PM. Alternatively, we welcome you to get to know us at the kingdom's discord channel. Cheers!

Of course, the vision of House Veilfire will inevitably be modified as we start to learn more specifics about the game. However, we pledge not to make any official changes without consulting members of our community. Additionally, we believe that we have made it ambiguous enough to readily accommodate additional information. For instance, we cannot and we have not made any claims regarding the geographical location of our lands, for we are still uncertain where we will be situated.

Kindly note that while we believe that roleplay amplifies the gameplay experience, by no means do we require you to engage in it.

To which Dutchy does House Veilfire pledge?

8/26/2016 7:50:05 PM #9

Greetings, all!

Please excuse my delay in response. I have been away for quite a while, but I expect to be much more active in the coming days.

@DaTarian, we are pledged under Duchess Ilhar's lands in Olath Valm - under the Kingdom of Blackhearts. The lords and ladies we have sworn fealty too have inspired much respect by way of their words and, more importantly, their actions. Please do give us a visit on our Discord channel if ever you are still interested.

Cheers!

The Holy Church of Melonism is pleased to announce the conversion of Count Samael Veilfire to our noble religion. Count Veilfire's heart has been ripened and he is now ready to spread our seeds within Blackheart. May Melon be with him as he grows from a Seedling into a fully fledged Melon. If you wish to follow in Count Samael's blessed footsteps, please follow our link:

Clearly, time and effort has gone into this, as well as some beautiful design work. One more like from me.
