I know magic isn't a big thing in Elyria, but since souls are definitely real and play such an integral part I thought maybe the devs are secretly using these inspirations from Earths cultures like the Egyptians who looked for ways to manipulate the soul using pyramid structures. So I thought we could start a thread about 'cultures on Earth and their soul beliefs' just incase they were looking into this, so that they can get ideas/inspiration from the community without spoiling the existence of anything related to this.
So if you know anything about cultures in the past that believed in souls and had rituals/devices/structures related to the manipulation/interaction of them AND get an idea of how they could possibly include it in the game then post them below.
Pharaohs and Pyramids
You know how pyramids, pharaohs being mummified have a lot to do with the belief in souls and bringing the ability for souls to return to their mummified bodies from the afterlife? ...
Since souls in Elyria are undeniably real and play a big part in this game, what if one of the lost tribes like the Erishe has a culture of building pyramids for their kings/queens/generals or greatest warriors of their time. Imagine sailing to a new continent and discovering the Erishe, Pyramids and all this ancient beliefs about souls, and the player base wondering if any of it is actually real lol.
A way to incentivise the playerbase to continue the tradition later on could be something tied to the pyramids themselves... maybe like 'The special ability' (for dras its 100% poison/disease immunity), for the Erishe it could be returning your soul to your mummified body in a pyramid temporarily when your homeland is under attack(being invaded) something supernatural along those lines.
But of-course not everyone would be able to do it since people would need to build a pyramid/tomb in your name and bury you with offerings and riches. Maybe the offerings riches, size of pyramid could be what determines how strong you will remain when getting back to your dead body and how long you can stay in the mortal plane in that body before your soul returns to your current life and that body turns to desert sand (if you didn't go back to your tomb in time).
(Example Lore)
This sacred knowledge was a gift bestowed upon the Erishe that only they could use, as they didn't betray the Gods they served during the Godswars. This gift has lead to a prosperous civilisation and an understanding of their galaxy/stars/souls that no other tribe share, Just like our ancient Egypt and their Pharaohs on our world.
The Erishe think countless steps ahead, not in terms of one mere life span but in terms of how far they've come as a society, a civilisation, and how far they will go. Their people are amongst the best astronomers in Elyria. Their towering pyramid structures stretching as far as the eye can see through the desert is a testament to the strength of will of the Erishe, and their ability to not just survive but thrive as a civilisation in the harshest of environments. Most importantly, The Erishe see it as a message from the Gods to the rest of the tribes, specially the Wa'erd. They have a high opinion of themselves and are not people that would easily humble themselves.
As you can see I see the Erishe as what the Wa'erd could have been did they not get exiled. In a way The Erishe are collectivists too, but unlike the Wa'erd who are nomads and their civilisation only lies with its people, The Erishe has a strong, established home, civilsation and culture.
