Hail Elyrians,
I hope you've all been well and are having a fantastic time among the forums!
We at the Wyrmberg guild have devised an Initiative to assist players through the early stages of the game, called the Auralin Initiative! Read on to see what it's all about and we look forward to hearing your input.
The Auralin Initiative
-Supported by The Wyrmberg-
This document is for all those interested in what the initiative is, whether you are an artisan within the guild, a player looking for help or a potential customer looking to find a reliable artisan for your settlement. Participation in this Initiative is entirely optional for Wyrmberg Artisans. As such, it is recommended for nobility to provide support to your local Wyrmberg Artisan to empower their participation.
What is The Auralin Initiative, its goal and timeframe?
The Initiative is a program designed by Auralin within the Wyrmberg Artisans Guild to assist newer players making their way into the World of Elyria. Regardless of what items are required, the initiative aims to provide equipment and/or tools for all players who need a hand to get started. The premise is that participating Wyrmberg Artisans will provide pro-bono services to beginning players both during, and for a short time after, exposition.
This initiative is to benefit beginning individual players, and is not open to players who are looking for items in bulk, such as a King trying to provide equipment for his troops.
As stated above, the goal is to outfit newcomers in the OCE server with the means to pursue their own goals, in the event that their chosen soul doesn’t already have what is required or they find themselves in hardship.
The point of Exposition is to build a fleshed out world for the general public before they get access. To have unique towns, established businesses and guilds.
We wish to take this a step further and as such are offering our time and service in exchange for only the raw materials required for the items. This means we are working in a Non-Profit capacity for the most part.
The Initiative is planned to end 30 days after Exposition ends and the servers open up to the general public.
Operational Guidelines
The Initiative is (potentially) going to be quite a large endeavour for any who join as we expect a high multitude of orders for those participating.
Exposition Artisans
During Exposition, to prepare, you may wish to work on upskilling your craft so you can offer more range to clients.
We don’t advise stockpiling raw materials using EP as they will officially go “poof” once Exposition ends. (Confirmed by Sharielane)
Perhaps pre-crafting some things you think may be desirable will help if you find yourself swamped but without knowing how the early economy will be, don’t go crazy.
If you wish to specialize, you’re free to, however this initiative will have the greatest impact on the community if we opt to pursue a broader skill set for the duration of the initiative.
This will reduce the logistics of having to import goods from another Artisan and reduce travel times for the community just starting out who are yet to have the means for travel or to protect themselves. They can then focus on finding their own bearings in the world of Elyria.
If you do decide to offer a more select range, just try to recommend another Artisan close by that can help.
Post Exposition Artisans
If you choose to join the initiative after exposition, you will have two options of joining.
First, working with an established Artisan or;
Second, to establish your own Chapterhouse and fulfill Initiative orders on an ad-hoc basis to truly create a name for yourself.
Incentives
Just as artisans will be donating their time to this initiative, the Nobility have the opportunity to donate resources to the Initiative (ie, their local Wyrmberg Artisan) to assist with establishing a strong player base.
Whilst participating in this Initiative may be time consuming (though you can very likely set up scripts so that your OPC can fill requests while you’re away), there is great potential for longer term benefits that will make participation worthwhile. Some examples of these are listed here;
Artisan
- An increase to your skills as an artisan
- An established client base
- To be in good standing with your local liege lord and community
- The Artisan who has the highest participation will receive a copy of Valegor’s unique Design a Weapon. (Tracked via explicit contract accumulation)
Nobility
- Wyrmberg Artisan(s) to provide services for your settlement
- Attract players to your settlement by advertising the Initiative
- The player base of your settlement to be swiftly equipped, supplied and productive
Item cost and how it will work
The cost of each Initiative transaction will be determined by explicit contract between the Artisan and the player who is receiving the item, and will be limited to the value of the raw materials used to make the item.
New players wishing to be a customer, will approach a participating Artisan and make a request.
The Artisan will create an explicit contract such as:
I, (The Artisan) will provide the customer, (Customer Name) with (Item/s) within an acceptable time-frame upon receiving payment in the form of (The raw materials required)
Signed Signed
Once the customer returns with the materials and receives their item, they will both sign the contract upon completion.
This way, we can both gauge the success of the initiative and determine which Artisan wins the prize for highest participation.
Expectations of the Artisans
For all the artisans involved, please note that this section will likely be changed over the course of the testing phases! You will be notified once changes have been made.
An Artisan that is participating in the Initiative is expected to be able to provide standard basic items to new players at a moments notice. It is recommended that you try to stockpile as many basic items as you can during exposition. If you find that your stockpile runs out (or joined the initiative after exposition), you are expected to be able to craft your items with minimal waiting period for the customer.
Participating artisans are expected to maintain contact and network with other Wyrmberg members. It is not reasonable to expect you to be able to provide every item type a player may want, so instead you are expected to recommend other Wyrmberg Artisans to provide what you cannot. It is also recommend that you establish trade with other Wyrmberg Artisans, so that you may stock some of their items for customer convenience.
At the conclusion of this Initiative, business will begin as normal.
How you can help support us
Not all Wyrmberg members have pledged to mayor or above, so it may be harder to sustain themselves during this Non-Profit period of activity.
As a Lord/Lady or even general citizen, your support is greatly appreciated;
A temporary exemption from taxes or even a reduction.
Offering free lodgings
Offering support by way of food
Joining the Wyrmberg and offering your time to both help the community and learn a trade
The latter is especially helpful for those who have pledged as a mayor or above, as their time will also be taken up by their duties towards their local community.
