So, many are interested in immortality. As am I. So I decided that I'd might as well create a topic on it. There's 2 ways to become immortal, and 1 to extend your life, I'll be going over all 3, and talking about it.
This is what I learned over time, so I can't remember the sources, although, if I find them, I will add them. or If I missed something, please message my discord #Gunned-out-mary#1402

Vampirism
How to become one?
I'm not informed as to how they'll be introduced. But to become one, a powerful vampire has to consume your soul rendering it unusable until that vampire dies.
How is it sustained?
Early on, you'll need to gnaw at people's spirit shortening their lifespan. Eventually, you'll accumulate enough power to consume somebody's soul which lasts you longer, gives you more power, and makes the victim into a vampire.
---------------------------------Advantages--------------------------------
Immortality (As long as you keep yourself fed)
Will get stronger with time (Depends on how much and what you eat)
If you eat a talent holder's soul, you'll gain their talent
You lack a soul, so you don't have to worry about affinity and such.
Dhampyr (A half vampire. Ageing doesn't decrease physical stats, and you use less spirit to survive allowing for a longer lifespan. May be hunted due to their vampire heritage)
--------------------------------Disadvantages-------------------------------
The sun hurts (Probably won't be doing too much during the day)
You must be near mann (You eat their spirit and souls)
Your soul-less (If you get coup de graced, it's perma-death)
Enemy of mann (To most, you will be KOS, but there are those that would help a being such as a vampire, but they are few)
You lack a soul, so no skill ramp, or achievements go to your soul
.
Lichdom
How to become one? To my knowledge, the longest night, which occurs once an elyrian lifetime will be when it has to be done, and I've heard talk of a dark ritual. Although, I suspect that to perform such a ritual will require expensive, or otherwise, hard to obtain resources, but this is just a hunch.
How is it sustained? I've heard little on this front, some believe you won't need anything, while others believe you'll need to continuously do evil acts.
---------------------------------Advantages--------------------------------
Immortality (Respawn at your phylactery)
Phylactery (The phylactery is separate from your body, so hide it where it won't be found. You won't truly die until it's destroyed)
Grim growth (For your natural lifespan, you can hide among the people)
possibly necromancy (I heard talk of liches being able to raise the dead)
--------------------------------Disadvantages-------------------------------
Grim growth (You continue to age as a mortal, after your natural lifespan ends, your flesh rots off of your body)
Interesting character (Liches are evil, most don't like evil beings, but beyond that, you may be able to make yourself an asset to a kingdom)
True death (After your phylactery is destroyed, your soul is released to the akashic records. Then reincarnating as a mortal leaves you without your skill ramps, but you keep your achievements)
Cannibalism
What is it? Cannibalism allows you to eat perma-dead characters to extend your lifespan beyond what it would be otherwise.
How is it sustained? By eating menn.
---------------------------------Advantages--------------------------------
Longer lifespan (Your lifespan is extended beyond the natural, theoretically allowing for a sense of immortality)
Has soul (You've still got your soul, and, to my knowledge, is the only way to live longer while building your skill ramps)
--------------------------------Disadvantages-------------------------------
Evil (You gain dark affinity by eating others. May lead to lichdom)
Murder (You need to get the bodies from somewhere)
Cannibalism (Cannibals may be hunted down)
Crime (You can rack up quite the spirit loss for all your crimes)
