The Falcons Rise - Prologue - The curious orphan

There was a boy. The boy was nobody and had no real name. He didn't know his parents, they left him or died when he was a mere suckling he know not, he could not remember. He was a stranger in a strange place, an unusual fellow in one of the biggest Nirathian Orphanages. His body was different from most of those around him, but then there were a lot of strange kids in an orphanage, though he always felt that he was somehow fundamentally different from all those around him.

Somewhere around his 8th star he was minding his own business as usual, when he felt a prickling sensation. He didn't know what it was, but he always were a curious fellow, so he started to examine it in himself. He soon realized that this sensation was suprisingly coming "from" a direction outside of him, so he begun to search for it, hoping to find its origin. After a while he realized that the birthplace of this strange feeling was not a fixed place, but it was moving around, so he started to suspect that "it" might be "alive".

He wandered around for an hour or so when suddenly the sensation grew stronger and it seemed to be "approaching" him. He became a bit frightend by this sudden change, but he remained curious, so he dropped to a crouch and started to prick his ears. He always had exceptional hearing, something he thought might have to do with his unusally long ears, but for now, he was concentrating on the sounds around him. He heard a silent squeal of a mouse somwhere in the distance, he heard the light ruffle of leaves in the wind outside the window, he heard his wild cat's soft approach, they were good friends since he could remember, then he heard the sounds of soft foots approaching from somewhere very-very close...

He almost jumped, when he felt a slight hot breeze on the left side of his neck, then a second later he heard an old man's voice in his left ear, "What are you doing here kid?" Asked the old man in a curious, calm tone (though our 8 year old seemed to hear some amusement in it too). "Nothing." He replied curtly as he turned around to face the man. He realized then that the sensation he felt before, was directly in front of him, it seemed to come "from" the old man. "Who are you, and what are you doing here?" he asked the -now interesting- stranger. "I'm just an old man looking for my lost bird." he replied amused, "Why would a bird be in here?" asked are young one confused "Why indeed..." the old man had a slight grin on his face at this point...
