The Emerald Serpents of Vornair
Do you long for the life of an adventurer? Do you want to see exotic places and meet new and interesting people? Do you stare at the sea wondering what is out there? Well I have good news for you, the Vornair Jarls of the round have recently commissioned a new branch of the military called the Navy aka The Emerald Serpents. The Navy will be responsible for researching, building, and maintaining a fleet of vessels designed for travel across the water and ocean.
Duties
The duties and possible activities of the members of the Emerald Serpents are as follows, from highest to lowest priority:
Vessels Assignments
Captain
Head of the Vessel. His word is law and he gets his orders from the Admiral he is assigned to.
First Mate
He is in charge of maintaining the fighting force on the ship. He will lead boarding parties and leading the defense of the ship.
Quartermaster
He is in charge of ship navigation.
Boatswain
He is head of the enlisted personnel on a vessel. He is selected by the crew before a voyage.
Doctor
The medic on a vessel.
Cook
In Charge of dispersing rations.
Naval Yard Assignments
Master of Port
Head of the Port. He is responsible for maintaining and defense of the port.
Master of Shipwrights
Head of the shipwrights. He is responsible for overseeing the building of a ship and resolving any issue that arise.
Master of Research
Head of the Researchers for the naval yard.
Training officer
An officer assigned to the naval academy and responsible for training others in various skills
Resource Manager
He is in charge of maintaining supplies for both everyday use and shipbuilding
Master Shipwright
He is a crafter who specializes in building vessels.
Master Arms Smith
He is a crafter who produces general goods and weapons for the navy
Researcher
A sailor that does research for the navy.
Civilian Assignments
Royal Shipwright
A civilian shipwright that has a standing contract with the navy. While he can work on other ships, navy vessel are a priority.
Royal Arms Smith
A civilian crafter that has a standing contract with the navy. While he can work on other ships, navy vessel are a priority.
Researcher
A civilian that does research for the navy.
Divisions
Heavy Fleet
This is the strong arm of the navy. This will be responsible for fighting piracy and enemies in times of war. It will protect Vornair waters and defend its interests.
Exploration Fleet
This is the ships that are responsible for charting the coast lands and finding new continents. They can also be used as scout ships during times of war.
Naval Supplies
The supply side of the navy. This division will be responsible for maintaining resources. It will also be responsible for building and outfitting vessels.
Naval Research
This is the division in charge of research for the navy. They will be stationed at the royal naval academy and will focus on important naval research.
Structure & Ranks
Ranks in the Navy from lowest to highest:
Squid(E-0)
A Squid is a male or female who has agreed to participate in the Navy but has not completed Standard Training. Recruits are never be put on a ship.
Seaman(E-1)
An enlisted recruit who has completed Standard Training, a sailor with no command authority. He should not be a danger to himself on a vessels.
Lead Seaman(E-2)
An enlisted sailor who performs exceptionally well. He should not be a danger to himself or the crew of a vessel.
Petty Officer(E-3)
An enlisted sailor who performs exceptionally well. He should be able to lead a the crew of a vessel.
Chief Petty Officer(E-4)
An experienced soldier who performs exceptionally well in a leadership role. He should be able to lead and manage the vessel.
Master Chief Petty Officer(E-5)
An Enlisted soldier who performs at the highest level. There can only be one person occupying this rank at any given time. To be considered for this rank, a recommendation must be made by both a E-3 or above and a O-2 or above. The Admiral board will confirm the promotion. He can be assigned as a First Mate on a ship. He be a spokesman for the enlisted sailors for the admiral board.
Officers Midshipman(O-0)
A officer candidate that has not gone through officer training.
Ensign(O-1)
Vornair civilians or enlisted soldiers may apply or be invited to Officer Standard Training. Upon completion, they will receive the rank of Ensign. Prerequisites include excellent skill in combat and leadership. They can be placed in charge of vessels but captains will be placed over them. They would typically be the first officer on a vessel.
Captain(O-2)
Chosen by the Grand Admiral, these individuals assist with managing the army as a whole. They will typically be in charge of a vessel or a division of naval supply.
Admiral(O-3)
Chosen by the Grand Admiral, these individuals assist with managing the navy as a whole. They can be in command of a naval yard. They will typically be in charge of multiple vessels or divisions of the naval supply. They will be on the Admiral board
Grand Admiral(O-4)
One Grand Admiral at any given time. The Grand Admiral leads and manages the Emerald Serpents, taking orders directly from the Hersir.
Qualifications to Join
Anyone who enjoys PvP, but doesn’t want to grief other people in the game would be a good fit and welcome addition to the Navy! We are looking for people aspiring to all of the ranks and specializations. Realistically, with such a large area to cover as jarldom, there are a lot of officer positions to fill. Early on the navy will be focusing on Training, Port Building, Research and Resources. So, pre-launch and during exposition we are looking to fill out many officer positions as well as civilian roles as possible.
