QUESTION:
Though I wouldn't mind knowing your opinion on things like public education, mandated military service, and using the military in times of peace as a force for building infrastructure, like Rome did with the roads and aqueducts.
ANSWER:
Public Education is good, I might use taxes to supplement it for the academies. Mandated military service, is 6 months at age 16 for training, then conscription in times of war.
QUESTION:
Specifics on classes or focus areas/skills?
ANSWER:
General reading, riting, rithmatic for a few years, then a student can choose a subject to focus on.
QUESTION:
Both limited to just citizens? Who are the teachers and how will they be vetted? Will you accept non-citizens into military service, either as combat or support roles?
ANSWER:
I would prefer to hire construction companies for infrastructure, but that will be left up to The Builder. Mandatory service for citizens only, non-citizens can join military, but cannot attain higher ranks until they become citizens. I haven't thought about vetting yet.
QUESTION:
Something like a cap at officer rank, then? Why distinguish between public education and the mandatory military service, if running off such a young age? As opposed to folding them together, military style schooling till 16.5yrs, the last 6months of which is active duty, or something?
ANSWER:
As citizens, the students families are paying taxes, so they can go to school.
QUESTION:
Alright. And, then they'll have some sway then, over specializing classes towards specific interests? Like herbology, or metal working, or such? As a service they are in effect paying for
ANSWER:
Yeah, I will work with academies, so they can help steer the kids to proper vocations like counselors. You don't want a kid that is lousy at math becoming an infrastructure engineer
QUESTION:
Alright. Are you looking to keep the academies insular and in house, or will you be working in conjunction with inter-kingdom research specialist, like for example Fennex academy, for training and specialists for the schooling?
ANSWER:
I might be working with academies like Fennec
QUESTIONS:
Would a working internship with some kind of specialist skill, like a Fennec doctor wanting a promising apprentice for his traveling practice, allow for deferring the military service, either to a later (more highly skilled) date, or as a financial buyout? Would either such effect citizenship status? (not meaning to pick on Fennec, they're just the name that comes to mind atm)
ANSWER:
yes, doctors are just as necessary as soldiers they could go either way, but a financial buyout will be stiff
