Have you heard tales of brave knights battling the forces of evil and wanted to join them, but felt that shining armor wouldn't quite be for you? Do you yearn to take up arms in defense of the defenseless, but from behind the cover of shadows and underbrush? Are you a brave warrior, but also a practical survivalist? Fear not, there is a path.

The Guard is looking for hardy and dedicated candidates to join our ranks in protecting the wild lands of our county and aiding those who travel its roads. We are based in the County of Sylitera, in the Kingdom of Ashland.

What We Offer:

We have our own Academy, where you will receive intensive training in a number of skills that will prepare you to tackle nearly any problem you face in the field.

We supply equipment and mounts to those who graduate the Academy and Join the ranks of the Guard, along with pay and housing in our barracks.

You also get the chance to become a citizen of Ashland, in the County of Sylitera, and upon retirement from active duty in The Guard, you can become an instructor at the Academy.

What We Need: Strong, intelligent, independent men and women who want to be a part of a team and dedicate their lives to protecting others.

Each member of the Guard will be a part of a Squad of 7 members, with the Squad Leader acting as the seventh. These squads will be a closely-knit group who work and train together, live together and if necessary, die together. There will be a minimum of 7 squads.

The 7 Squads will be commanded by Lieutenants, who are chosen by experience and leadership aptitude. The Captain will command Squad 1, formed of elite team members. Each squad will patrol an assigned area and will rotate to keep routes and methods ever changing.

Duties will include patrolling for dangers, rendering aid to lost travelers, coordinating and aiding frontier settlers, and responding to criminal activities or threats to public safety in their assigned area of responsibility. Should a Squad require aid from other Squads, they will signal the nearest and that Squad will respond with all due haste to back them up.

Further duties will be the mapping of the county, and the maintenance of the waystations along the roads, i.e. making sure there is firewood, water, rations etc. We’ll also do our part to protect the biome from overpopulation and deforestation.

Each member of the Guard starts as an Applicant at the Academy. There will be a series of tests with minimum requirements to pass. After passing each test, you move up to Recruit, then Trooper. On graduation, you will receive your mount and kit, along with the rank of Patroller. If you meet the requirements for promotion, the ranks are as follows;

Patroller

Ranger

Sergeant

Lieutenant

It is the responsibility of each Guard to maintain his or her gear, mount, weapons, and training at all times in or out of the field.
