The County of Blackfall is an adventuring and merchant based county with strong ties to the crafting community. Its members have a powerful connection to the land with many goals including but not limited to profit, exploration and the protection of the Kingdom of Ashland.
In the Kingdom of Valyria, nestled in the shadow of a mountain, the city of Blackfall remains as it has always been; a beacon for those willing to live on the edge between civilized and feral lands. Found in a fertile area in the Duchy of The Haverlands, Blackfall contains a varied landscape including lush deciduous forests, extensive grasslands, rugged mountainscapes as well as a few wetlands.
As with any diverse habitat comes a plethora of flora and fauna, rich veins of minerals and copious amounts of lumber available for harvest. These attributes make Blackfall the perfect place for any adventurer or merchant looking to make his or her legacy. This is evident when walking the streets of Blackfall proper. The intoxicating aroma of strange food mixes with a sickeningly sweet smell of the many tamed beasts crowding the streets. Exotic furs and elixirs are sold on every street corner. The most exquisite bows in the kingdom can be found, inlaid with Ursaphant ivory, illustrious gold and shimmering jewels. Everywhere in the city is color, bright color, red is worn exclusively and hung from any available balcony. The color of blood reminds Blackfall’s merchants that they are not just businessmen, but ruthless killers in the night, not afraid to protect what is theirs from the outside forces that threaten them.
In the midst of new threats and chaos, a local tribe forged a fellowship with a known enemy. Their goal was the same, to survive the onslaught of a dark invading horde threatening their border lands. A combination of horse lords and territorial clans, necessity has forged a once fractured group together into an unbreakable alliance that is Blackfall.
Members of the County of Blackfall value many things, their kingdom, their religions and deities, but at the heart of it all is a profound love of the land. House Nightwell's motto, “The Land Provides All”, has rung out across the plains throughout the ages. Be it the resources to craft tools & weapons, the bountiful crops and animal stocks for food, or even the dark places that provide rare chances for adventure and mischief, the land provides all!
Currently, Blackfall is well regarded for its highly skilled bowyers, its training of various beasts and other fine craftsmen of accoutrements. Through a combination of these exceptionally honed skills, Blackfall is notorious for its mounted combat and some of the greatest military minds agree, they are unrivaled throughout the land.
Military – Militia men and women to protect our borders and to assist our allies
Craftsmen – Fine craftsmen to create products for the betterment of all and a nice profit
Suppliers – Gatherers of fine resources to supply our fine tradesfolk
Tamers – Those with the gift of animal taming\training\breeding are always welcome
Mayor/Magistrate - Those familiar with the day to day running of local government
Adventurers – All manner of adventurers, interested in traveling to forgotten places
Members of Blackfall County are a fusion of several local clans with no specific look or description with one exception, “the reds”, the house colors they wear.
Blackfall was created with the idea that by helping others you in turn help yourself. We are committed to assisting in the progression and betterment of the common folk, gentry, Duchy of the Haverlands and finally the Kingdom of Ashland. By working together, The County of Blackfall strives to work towards a greater future.
Blackfall County is looking for passionate members interested in creating a piece of a greater world. Those willing to assist their fellow house members as well as the kingdom at large. Those looking for a touch of danger mixed in and above all who like to have fun!
