About the County:

Nestled within the borders of Ira Invida, the county of Hawkridge is dedicated to the protection of the surrounding settlements and the Kingdom of Riftwood at large. Home to the Hawkridge academy, students gain the skills necessary to count themselves part of the elite Hawkridge Rangers: marksmen, trackers, scouts and unconventional warfighters (special forces) dedicated to keeping the Kingdom safe. The community is made up of more than just students and graduates of the school, though. Walking through the capital city of Sterling, you will encounter people of all trades and professions, each person helping and looking out for the other.

Hawkridge is a medium- to heavy-roleplay community, but we welcome those new to roleplay and non-roleplayers. We are looking to build a community of helpful and friendly people of all different walks of life. My plan is to be a pretty balanced county with an emphasis on the military. Game-wise, the County’s primary focus is on research and the military but it will take all of the different disciplines to help make the county as strong as it can be, therefore there are plenty of opportunities for success in all industries and endeavors.

As count, my goal is to help you succeed. I will be working hard to make sure you have the infrastructure and trade routes available and support to help you get established and thrive. I will be making significant investments to try to open properties and workspaces up to artisans at a discounted rate to support your efforts.

Roleplay in the County

My video game roleplay experience started with Star Wars Galaxies where a troop of role-playing stormtroopers patrolled Mos Eisley, adding so much depth to the atmosphere of the game... It was great! I hope to bring that same feeling to CoE as well (without the stormtroopers, of course). To this end, together with the towns in the county, we have partnered to provide a rich roleplay experience. We are bringing over a simplified d20-like system to resolve in-character adventures and provide a common base for character progression. We used this system in SWTOR and it made for a common system for everyone to roleplay together. We will be hosting frequent in-game roleplay events and hope to grow the roleplay community within the kingdom.

The Rangers of Hawkridge

Role:

While most domains will have some sort of scouts and archers in service, the Hawkridge Rangers will seek to be the pinnacle organization for archery, tracking, woodcraft, intelligence gathering, espionage and counter-espionage, and unconventional warfare that sets the kingdom apart, and ahead of others. Calvary will let a commander unleash devastating attacks on an enemy, but the presence of well-trained Rangers will allow the general to command the battlefield.

Organization:

The Ranger Corps will be broken into three different core units based on rank and experience.

Archers: This is the lowest level in the organization and holds the most personnel. These individuals will be graduates of the Archery training brigade at the Hawkridge Academy and will supplement ground forces with expert use of ranged weaponry. They will be trained in mounted and dismounted archery.

Scouts: This group will be made up of those archers that exceed the skill of their peers and show the ability to work in smaller units. They will precede an advancing force to give the commander reconnaissance of enemy dispositions, or provide a counter-reconnaissance when in defense. In addition to their archer training, they will also be trained in stealth and tracking.

Rangers: This group of veterans will be experts in unconventional warfare and must exceed the expertise of their peers in both archery and scouting skills. They will need to be able to work alone or in very small groups for extended periods of time. They must be experts in combined arms tactics. When not consulting with generals and rulers, they will often be sent on the more critical scouting missions, or the long-range reconnaissance patrols and other high-value missions. (Think British SAS, or US Army Rangers + Green Berets).
