Located in the County of Wessex within the Duchy of Ashira, a central power in the Kingdom of Kairos, the Barony of Harlech serves as the loyal bannermen of the Count of Wessex, providing defence and security to the people of the county. The Barony of Harlech is ruled by the Baroness Aveline Wessel, ruling by the grace of her people from her seat of Harlech Castle.
The Barony of Harlech is first and foremost a community of loyal, hardworking citizens of the Kingdom, but when it comes to what is expected of citizens, much is left to the individual. As a citizen of the Barony of Harlech, you are free to choose a living for yourself, although there are expectations that are in place to ensure the safety and prosperity of the people and Kingdom.
The governing of the Barony of Harlech ultimately falls to the Baroness, however no lord or lady can claim to rule justly without including their people in the government. Therefore, in the Barony of Harlech, the people will be represented by a council that will assist the Baroness in ruling her land and making sure the people are not neglected nor forgotten. Positions of the council will include, but will not be limited to, the following:
Harlech serves as a military stronghold of the County of Wessex, providing troops and resources for the defence of the County, and in turn the Duchy and Kingdom. The Barony will train and house a standing force intended to be the garrison of the Barony. Furthermore, the Barony will recruit able bodied citizens to serve in the Duchy's military in times of threat.
The standing garrison of the Barony will consist of a mixture of troops, ranging from cavalry forces to the specialty of our people, the longbowmen of Harlech. The garrison will serve to fulfill a line of duties, such as:
All able bodied citizens are welcome, and encouraged, to enlist in the service of the Barony as a member of the standing garrison. Training and equipment will all be provided by the Barony.
Should war break out, or an immediate need arise, all citizens capable of bearing arms will be called upon to form a militia and depart as fast as possible to join the ongoing effort.
