Jonham County
Twin Focus' of the County
The County will be largely agrarian, with an emphasis on breeding. We seek to be a primary source of mounts for the armies of the Kingdom, as well as our Duke. Expect to find the finest trison in the lands here! We will also host crafters of all types, as trade and commerce will be our other primary focus.
That being said, we support and encourage all adventurers and professions to call Jonham County home. Our County will provide opportunity for all, and benefit from the presence of each and every one of the many diverse skills of its residents.
Government Style
The government will be mostly hands off, but griefers and other sources of strife will be dealt with and banished from our positive focused community. The Mayors will be given wide latitude to govern as they see fit, as they are the ones in closest contact to the populace they govern. The Mayors in turn, will be asked to keep good lines of communication open, as I cannot lend aid or advice unless I know it is needed. I do expect the towns to work together, as a strong County allows us to be a pillar of a stronger Kingdom.
Laws
Contracts will be respected and followed, and CDG is not allowed without being granted a Writ from the Count or higher. Exception is given for a Mayor to grant a Writ within town boundaries only. This is primarily to prohibit, or punish, griefing.
There will be no laws prohibiting the unconventional lifestyles, provided the anti-griefing laws are followed. So those inclined to use daggers, poisons, or "fireballs out of a hat" are welcome, and possibly even encouraged if they use their skills for the good of the county. Granted, they must practice the boundaries of such skills against enemies of the Kingdom, Duchy and County, but the wielders themselves are seen as an asset to be respected.
Military
The Military is mostly up to the Dukes, but we will have local forces, both overt and covert, to settle local issues as they arise. We do seek to supply the mounts the military needs, so it is hoped the Duke will at least see fit to have a minor outpost in the County to acquire and train the highest quality mounts we produce.
Taxes
Taxes will be minimal, but sufficient to build the needed infrastructure (roads, wells, walls, etc) to make sure travelers can both find, and easily get to us for commerce, as well as discourage those who seek to resort to banditry or worse. We seek to ensure this to be a safe and profitable County of substance.
Location
As we will likely be very low in the selection order, we will do our best to pick the best grazing/farmland first, followed by access to trade routes. Beyond that, we have to see what the map allows at selection time.
OOC
About us: We are a long time gaming couple. Over the 21+ years since we first met we have played EQ (shortly after it launched), DAoC (Albion), Neverwinter, ESO, and for the past 3 years, Ark: Survival Evolved.
She is a retired QA software engineer in the medical device field, mostly blood banking and heart pacemakers. She currently has over 3000 hours in Ark, and enjoys breeding and base building in pve the most. She spends roughly 40-60 hours per week gaming on average.
I am doing my second career later in life as a struggling attorney, with undergrad and law school studies in land use, urban development, and city planning focus. Obviously those skills have not been in high demand since '09, so I've been stuck doing litigation support for peanuts. In my "first life" I was a small business manager, and a real estate agent. My personal focus is on armorcrafting. I was a top 10 Legendary Grandmaster in DAoC for the first year or so of the game (before they made crafting irrelevant) and wish to become one of the premier armorcrafters in this world as well.
Join us in making a great, stable, and well run County to help make a stronger Duchy and Kingdom for all Free Citizens!
