The city of Wayland lies within the Kingdom of Vonair, in the County of Drake and is set to become what all wish and hope they can be, successful. We are heavily invested into ensuring success in making this city rise quickly as a center of industry and wealth. Our goal is to have the finest craftsmen, the best educators, and the savviest traders in the land! We are currently seeking all citizens. We need craftsmen, guardsmen, tradesmen, farmers, educators, and the like. We won’t settle for mediocre, we want good people, people that can stand on their own two feet and swing a hammer, a sword, or a pickaxe and strive to be more than just average. We need strong minds, strong arms, and strong backs to make this city the place people come to when they want excellence.
Our word and our product is all. When we give it, when we make it, people will know that we CAN and WILL deliver what was promised. Others can make excuses, but we make our way in this big madd world with hard work, dedication, and the skill to be labeled the best.
A lute player will practice until his fingers bleed, plucking the chords till the notes sound just right. A guardsman will spar and train from dawn until dusk, and then continue by torchlight far into the night. A smith will work a single white hot piece of metal for hours with no rest until he has it just the exact form, the imperfections beaten out relentlessly. A carpenter using his adze and chisels will go through a dozen logs until his design is flawless. This is what we want, this is what we expect, Quality at it’s very finest.
There will be a meeting once a week to discuss any new problems that might arise, from mines running low, trouble with shipments, caravan problems, etc. The council will be ordered by importance to the city. The Mayor, the Captain of the Guard, the Heads of the Guilds, will all be invited to attend, etc. Our focus will always be on keeping the city running, the mines producing, and wagons rolling.
We are hoping to draw some of the more martial minded guilds to the city, both for the defense of its walls in times of need and also for guard contracts for our shipments, whose caravans will need protection and fine warriors. The lower cost of quality arms and armor will be an added benefit to any that wish to make Wayland their headquarters. Other guilds we are hoping to attract are those dealing with trading, crafting, and learning. We see our city as being the place one comes to learn from master craftsmen, study under the knowledgeable professor, and where children sit at the feet of the wise old trader sitting in his comfortable chair by the fireplace, telling tales of faraway lands. Wayland is a place for all desiring to rise above mediocrity; they simply have to seize it!
