The Knights of Balaur are the personal guard of House Drăculesti, led by Count Abaddon Drăculesti of Akeldama within the Kingdom of Valyria. Those who chose to serve within the ranks of the order swear their lives to the His Lordship and Her Ladyship. The Order lives by the virtues of strength, loyalty, faith, and charity.
The knights are expected to train in combat, improving their strength and abilities. They are expected to be loyal to House Drăculesti. Each is expected to carry their faith as a weapon against their enemies, dedicating themselves to the Virtues. Finally, the Order of Balaur puts charity above all else, believing it their solemn duty to provide aid to those less fortunate.
Those who serve faithfully will be rewarded for their time in the Order. If and when they decide their time of service has come to an end, those who have achieved rank of Knight or higher will be rewarded with a parcel of land and a stipend to help them live out their golden years in peaceful tranquility.
The Order of Balaur offers many positions for those who seek to dwell within its halls. For those new to the order their role would be Initiate of Balaur. After ample training and approval of the Grandmaster, Initiates would be promoted to Brother of Balaur. Finally, those who have trained hard and shown their faith, loyalty, and charity would achieve the rank of Knight of Balaur.
One individual, selected by the Count, will oversee the order as Grandmaster of Balaur. This individual will be responsible for ensuring those who enter the Order are a proper fit and all necessary training for advancement is completed. This individual will also suggest promotions within the Order, the Count will have final approval of those suggestions. The Grandmaster will have complete control over who enters the Order and his suggestion for promotion will weigh greatly in His Lordship’s decision to approve.
