If my last name is knight, and I want the first name to be Sirius, will it matter if someone else already has the first name Sirius?

In other games we have all run into the message "That name is already taken" followed by the computer laughing at you when you are trying to create a character.

Since names are not displayed above you, at least until you get to know them well, and you get to choose what info is shared(PAPERS PLEASE!), will the game itself prevent you from taking a first name that someone in town already has?

If 20 people in town are named Fred with no last name it could get confusing.
