Greetings,
My name is Klaus Zervas, the count of Felvasdyr, located within the duchy of Xeilias in Alésia. I write to you to tell you a bit about myself and the land in which I call home and perhaps the land in which you may one day call home as well.
Felvasdyr was once a much larger county then it is today, as it once included the lands of Ailurus and Tz'alikul as well. The Feltree, Cadyr, and Zervas families worked together to create the original Grand County of Felvasdyr. For many generations it was a very prosperous land, with the three families working together to create not only a strong economy but also a sense of family within the county. The nobles treated all those in their lands, as they treated each other with respect and love, treating their populace as part of their own extended families. Nothing was more important to them then the happiness of their people, and for a long time they managed to keep it that way.
However as the generations progressed, more and more conflicts popped up between the three families, festering and growing until eventually it seemed there was nothing they could agree on anymore. It slowly grew to a point where there was almost nothing they could agree on anymore. Tensions were high in the county; the people knew their leaders were going through troublesome times with each other, the alliance growing rocky with every day that passed.
Seeing that the nobles were no longer working with each other, the outliers took advantage of this and riots became a regular occurrence. Slowly, the people of the grand county began to take sides, splitting the already fractured community even further. Finally, enough was enough. A man by the name of Dréog Mulvine, a lesser noble of the Zervas line, decided he would gain favor with the higher nobility and hopefully put the chaos to rest. He decided he would make an attempt on the heir to the Cadyr line; a child by the name of Aréna Cadyr. Dréog hoped that the shock caused by this action would force the noble families to once again work together to find the monster who killed the poor child. Reminding them what they could do when they worked together
Upon discovering that his cousin’s child had done this Nikolaos Zervas, the current head of the Zervas family, executed the criminal personally before exiling the rest of the branch family. This course of action was the final straw for both the Cadyr and Feltree family. Both families felt Nikolaos’ actions we’re extreme. They didn’t feel the entire family deserved to be punished for one man’s crimes, and this lead to a complete break between the three families. It was only through the love of their people that the three families didn’t go to war. It was at this point the only thing the three families came even close to agreeing on. Their final act as the noble families of Felvasdyr was to split up the county into three domains. With each of the families’ homes being the new center of their county.
The Cadyr returned to the town of Rose Crossing, naming their land Ailurus. The Feltree returned to Zei'la and named their lands Tz’alikul. The Zervas' stayed right where they were in Kai'alesh where they'd always resided, choosing to keep the name Felvasdyr. For several generations the three noble families cut off all communication with one another and lead their lands as separate entities.
During this time Felvasdyr has prospered continuing to be a great nation, however it could in no way claim to be as prosperous as it once was. The Zervas family while smart, and very economically focused just hasn’t been able to create the same connections with their people as its other two counterparts were able to. The people just couldn’t forget that the reason for the Grand County’s split was due to the actions of the Zervas’ family and its lesser families.
It’s only in the last few generations that the three families began speaking and working together once again. While they still remain three separate counties and have no specific plans to change that in the near future. There have been talks and rumors of a possible marriage between the Cadyr and Zervas lines. The truth of this statement is still unverified, but the zervas do hope that the possibility to mend the rift they created many years ago is possible.
