Ages ago, a small community burgeoned with unrest on the Tyrian shores. Its leadership yearned for peace, and when it could not be found, they planned their departure from their homeland. Families of fishermen rounded up their vessels, just twelve in all. With these twelve craft, they fled under the shroud of Luna’s light. Fortnight after fortnight, these seafarers willed everything into their journey to a new home. They dreamed of the prosperity and comfort they would enjoy, as so many of them left with nothing but the clothes on their backs.
Northbound, their journey experienced little surprise. The mornings were calm, and while the nights were chilling, they could huddle for warmth. It wasn’t until deep in their journey, that a storm overtook their migrant flotilla. The seas rocked the tiny vessels with fury none of them had ever experienced, and on that night souls were lost. A precious few families were not scattered to oblivion and taken by the harsh sea.
Prayer alone—a prayer to find a safe home is what kept the survivors alive. As the final dawn in their journey broke, instead of sea on the horizon, the travelers found themselves cast upon the hills of Sanctaphandri. There, upon that safe coast, the surviving few established Moribus Portum, their home. There, they contacted the lord of the land, and with acceptance they prospered.
Experience taught them that Elyria was full of danger, with the sea chiefest among them. The surviving descendents, in honor of their journey and remembrance of the castaways, devoted their craftsmanship to furthering the excellence of seafaring vessels. Never again would they allow others to suffer their same tribulations at sea.
In recent memory, when war came to Sanctaphandri, Moribus Portum offered their premier shipwrights’ talent to the Duke Seleücrei of the year 599 of the Fourth Era. And of the combatants, out of Moribus Portum came our forefather of the dynasty, Chunga. It was this mann’s excellence and bravery in battle that earned our present people baronal lordship over Moribus Portum.
Today, our dynasty remains vigilant against all threats. We protect Sanctaphandri’s people against the dangers of both mann and sea. No longer do we flee from turmoil, for it is our charge to bring peace wherever we travel.
