It was during the beginning of the Kairos civil war that the lands of Pikemount reach it’s breaking point as a society, disease, famine and crime ran rampant leaving the lands in utter chaos. What’s worse was that its current Duke saw this war as an opportunity to rise from the desolate situation he lead his country towards. Enacting a forced draft where neither the old nor young was spared. Those who refused would be hung, The livestock and farm lands would be seized to feed this massive and ever growing force, when it came time for the lord to call upon Dayhaven he would find their villages abandoned or raised to the ground. Their people had apparently fled to the mountains claiming the lands were being ravaged by some three headed beast who commanded the hearts of predators who sought the flesh of man, before deciding to find and hang the people of Dayhaven for treason he would send scouts into the land to investigate, nearly all who entered these plains were never seen or heard from again. Those who managed to escape death were scarred or disfigured, burned and weeping uncontrollably in terror; they would tell stories of this monster known as the Vakuris and his hordes of ravenous beast. Countless times he would send troops into Dayhaven to slay this beast until he could no longer bare the failure of his men. Massing a large military force he would enter the land, and perish at the hands of the Vakuris. Fearing the wrath of this creature neither side of the Civil war would enter into the lands of Pikemount fearing their involvement would cause the beast to migrate into their domain. That was until the former residents returned to their lands to slay the horde and defeat the Vakuris, the leader hero of this expedition would be declared the new lord of Pikemount whose name from then on would be Vakuris. And the four heroes who accompanied him would become his Counts and lords of the land. In reality the Vakuris was nothing but a legend fabricated by the House of whispers to cover the fact that the whole of Dayhaven had rebelled against their lord and was plotting to overthrow his tyranny. Any scouting party or troops to enter their land from the Duke would be slain by master animal tamers dressed as the beast they command. Those who managed to return alive were spies planted by the House of whispers who resided within the Dukes army or where threatened to spin their tales or lose their family and their life. The Master of the house of whispers, who was the chief advisor to the Duke at the time, would be the one to convince his lord to enter the lands himself to disproof this hoax of a mighty beast, which would ultimately lead to his assassination and removal from the office. As the legends spread, fearing the beast but wanting the support of the land both the West and East agreed that whomsoever would slay the beast would become recognized by their houses as ruler in an attempt to win the favor of this new Duke and coax them to their side as Pikemount had become pivotal to both sides in this war. Despite both agreeing to these terms the count of Dayhaven now the lord of Vakuris, formally Pikemount of the kingdom of Kairos declared his lands would remain neutral in order to recover from the tragedy his people suffered to which both sides for now agreed. The Lord of Vakuris and his four lords dressed in the heads of the monster would go down in history as the creature’s slayers. But the truth is that they themselves were the beast, leaders of the four rebelling tribes with their Lord and commander Jaro, as its heart.
