Deep in the forests of Osauria, next to the great river of Luna, lies a large city. Malum, the capital of Sanctus, is known to all as a haven. A city that cares not for a focus, rather, it prefers to accept all professions and types of Mann. The idea of unity and open arms may be admired in today's age, however it was not always so.
So the story goes, that long ago, Malum was a bustling town devoted to the god Terra. Many temples and statues of Terra lined the streets and festivals were held twice a year in Terra's honor. They focused mainly on mining and fishing, trying to provide for their kingdom of Riftwood. Riftwood was at war, and the army needed all the metal and food it could get. Exhausted and overworked, Malum toiled away providing vast resources to the army to fuel their efforts. Some might say too much, for somehow their enemy had become aware of this massive haul of resources just ripe for the taking.
They came in the night, torches extinguished to not give away their position. The enemy numbers were large, and their skill was great. The town did not even last a day, for without a wall the enemy simply marched in and slaughtered many. To put an end to the fighting, Count Adonis Ancora pleaded with them to stop the bloodshed. It's a rain soaked night and lightning flashes across the sky. The enemy leader laughs cruelly and grinds Adonis' face between his boot into the muddy jungle floor as he pleads. Adonis does not care, this is all he can do to protect his people. The general knows his task is impossible but enjoys seeing the townspeople squirm and the despair in their faces as Adonis agrees to the impossible. The enemy general agreed, under one condition. When the main army arrives in six months, Malum must have a years worth of food to pay as tribute.
Months go by, and every month they bring in a normal yield of food. They were not going to make the quota by the sixth month mark. Adonis sent a plea for help to his king, and then began to pray to Terra.
"Terra, give me the means to protect and provide for my family. Give me the strength to withstand all troubles, and give me the luck to not need to."
After the sixth month passes, the enemy army arrived just outside Malum. Though it wasn't a town they were looking at, it was a massive wall. Thick and tall was the wall, and the enemy was stunned. They were expecting a small town, not a walled city, so they had failed to bring any siege engines. Day in and day out, they threw themselves at this wall trying to find some weakness. Archers that lined the walls shot volley after volley into the invading army, decimating their lines. For 20 days they held off the army, until finally their own had arrived. The exhausted and demoralized menn stood no chance and were quickly disposed of.
Nobody really knows for sure what happened, but the belief is Terra pulled up the earth around Malum to shield them from harm. Till this day, the prayer that Adonis spoke is etched upon those walls and said by the townsfolk every night before bed. The tall stone giant still protects the Terran town of Malum till this very day.
