Suggestion: Zone of Influence for performers in a confined space

How you'd like to see your suggestion implemented: When a performer or group signs contract with a venue owner for a place to perform, a designated area become a Zone of Influence, where the entertainment's value will be judged base on the response of people within the zone. The zone may be limited by how far the sound produced travels or how far can the performance be seen, or enhanced by settings like better acoustics or items like spectator lens.

Impact of suggestion if implemented: This gives performers a reason to get better at their crafts to sign contracts for venues to perform at, which may provide a much better form of income when more people's reaction can be judged within a larger area. On the other hand, venue owners would become more motivated to renovate them and provide adequate equipment to attract better performers.

Suggestion: Designate a Lead for Group Performance

How you'd like to see your suggestion implemented: One of the performers would gain the command to start the timer of their performance, whether free form or with tempo. A short countdown timer would start to inform the participants that the script their performance would be measured against will become active soon.

Impact of suggestion if implemented: Multiple performers would need to work in perfect synchronisation for an effective performance, whether musical or theatrical. Having a Lead to start a timer is thus crucial.

Suggestion: Royal Seal on Scrolls

How you'd like to see your suggestion implemented: Allows the creation of seals using specialized wax and anything that imprints the unique insignia of the authoritative figure, in addition to other identification such as signatures and stamps. These seals could be given to scrolls, either to seal the ribbons holding them or just on the scrolls themselves. These scrolls can have up to two types of power: contractual and recognition.

  • Contractual: The right to access or claim certain resources, items, facilities, or process. E.g. access to the royal palace, deeds of an estate.
  • Recognition: Certificates that details the great deeds of the holder, and could be treated as heirlooms that pass down generations.

While they don’t have actual contractual powers, they influence the fame and recognition from the general populace, and thus could influence decision making of NPCs. E.g. certificate of appreciation to a commoner, who may use it to work his or her way to nobility with influence.

Impact of suggestion if implemented: While writing laws and contracts are the specialties of a scribe, rulers should have the power to bestow certain things to their subordinates. The complexity of the contractual scrolls should be limited compared to those drafted by specialists. Not only can the mechanic give their decisions more weight, it also let them give recognition in ways that are hard to quantify with monetary means. And it also make them items of interests that could promote conflict, and thus more interesting societal dynamics.

Suggestion: Implement genetic and species attributes for plants and animals, similar to the genetic and racial attributes for the races of Mann

How you'd like to see your suggestion implemented: Genetic attributes are those that impart certain characteristics to the offspring, such as growth rate and external appearances. These genes could either be dominant or recessive, which affects the chances of passing to future generation offspring. But they also require specific conditions to be activated. For example, a breed of wheat has the gene of Accelerated Growth as recessive, but even if the entire field has that gene only, they still need to be grown with specific temperature range to activate.

Species attributes are, similar to real life, the largest group of organisms that can reproduce offspring with the appropriate mating types. And depending on how closely related the species are, they could be cross bred to create hybrid as well as attempting to splice certain genetic attributes from one species. For example, a breed of red flowers is very closely related to a breed of big-leafed plants. When nurtured in the appropriate conditions, they could be cross-bred into a new breed of red flowers with big leaves.

For moral reasons and to avoid public backlash upon release of game, the cross breeding would be limited to plants only.

Impact of suggestion if implemented: Since we would already have genetic traits and could have cross breed between different races of Mann, achieving a similar but simpler system for plants should be achievable. It also makes farming a lot more complex than simply growing the same plants over and over. And to avoid backlash on the game by the general public, only plants should have the option to cross breed. The races cross breeding should be less of an issue since they could be classified as a single species (“Mann”) and mirrors the races of the real world.

Suggestion: Customizable greeting emotes / gestures by settlement owners

How you'd like to see your suggestion implemented: Similar to character customization interfaces, settlement owners could make their own gestures that signify greetings in the area. If someone foreign performs a matching gesture, it could help in bonding with the locals even if they don’t speak their languages.

Impact of suggestion if implemented: This could be a way to create a unifying cultural practice to increase people’s sense of belonging, as well as giving characters a way to bond beyond the language they speak. Could be used as a way for Diplomats to ease tension in their missions as well.

Suggestion: Allow certain gears to have customizable aesthetics

How you'd like to see your suggestion implemented: Depending on materials used to make the gears and the areas they occupy, add-ons like color dyes and jewelry pins could be applied onto them for either pure aesthetics, boosting fame or charisma. Gears that are made by higher level craftsmen could have more places for these add-ons depending on techniques used.

Impact of suggestion if implemented: This gives a wider variety of options for adding personal flares.

Suggestion: Artificial body modification with hair dyes, tattoos and brandings

How you'd like to see your suggestion implemented: Hair dyes, as the name implies, permanently change the hair color that is currently grown on the characters.

There would be two types of artificial body markings: tattoos and brandings.

Tattoos are permanent type of makeup. And as long as the tattoos don’t exceed the thresholds of identity meter (how close you are to your original appearance) and the intimidation meter (how intimidating your appearance is), then they can be accepted as legal.

Brandings are permanent scars made with burning of hot metals, and are either given to criminals, marking someone for certain deeds (e.g. someone betrayed a kingdom but not breaking any laws), or as a sort of initiation (e.g. bandit groups). Brandings have more weighting on the intimidation meter.

Impact of suggestion if implemented: Hair dyes, tattoos and brandings allow players to show individuality, with branding leaning towards the involuntary side of things.

Suggestion: Allow a chance for people passing out in the sea to be washed onto the shore, thus negating permadeath

How you'd like to see your suggestion implemented: This should be influenced by a series of factors:

  • Distance from the shore
  • Your physical conditions: the stronger you are, the more likely you are gonna endure the harsh conditions at sea.
  • Your swimming skills: if you are a good swimmer, chances are you would be conditioned to being in the water.
  • Tides, which may or may not be influenced by the story engine

Impact of suggestion if implemented: Being stranded in the sea can be frustrating, especially for people that have to abandon ships. Giving a chance for survival would make the experience at sea less menacing.

Suggestion: Salt and distilled water production

How you'd like to see your suggestion implemented: For areas that have access to salt water, people could utilise sunlight or other means of vaporising water (e.g. boiling sea water) to obtain salt.

With the right apparatus, they could also condense the said vapour back into liquid form, creating distilled water that maybe need in certain recipes (e.g. alchemical experiments) or bottled up for storage. Bottled distilled water should have close infinite shelf life if properly made and sealed.

For certain inland locations, salt could also be mined without access to seawater.

Impact of suggestion if implemented: In real life, Sodium ions are crucial in regulating heartbeat, making salt a crucial element in people’s diet. They are also used in preservation of food, making them last longer before rotting. Distilled water, apart from their uses in chemistry, is also valuable in that they are free of bacteria. This could be important during pandemics or contamination of water sources, when clean water is needed more than ever.

Suggestion: Allow OPCs to mimic your combat styles when you were active in combat

How you'd like to see your suggestion implemented: Depending on your character skill levels, OPCs may be more successful in applying the styles they have mimic from you. OPCs only mimics your combat styles in the last X hours. So if you haven’t engaged in combat in a week, your OPCs will have default NPC reaction base on your character stats only. This is to avoid exploitation.

Impact of suggestion if implemented: This would mean players need to remain relatively active to benefit from OPC combat mimic, as well as giving incentive to become better at combat. This could be applied on top of OPC scripts.

Suggestion: Make sure deviants can only erase or alter evidence with pure player skills

How you'd like to see your suggestion implemented: For physical evidence, deviant players should not be given techniques that directly let them temper them with (e.g. rather than having “erase footprint” techniques, make players ruin the mud prints with either vehicles, items, or wearing a different sets of boots).

For word of mouth gossips and memories, they should need to make active input to make them less reliable (e.g. instead of “hypnotize”, players should employ other deviant skills like wearing a disguise while travelling inside a settlement when buying their gears).

Impact of suggestion if implemented: This is to avoid making deviants linear roles, where they could rely on character skills to get by. By forcing deviant players to input more work, we could avoid exploits by griefers.

Suggestion: Give livestock a way to react to slaughter attempts

How you'd like to see your suggestion implemented: Animals should react to attempted slaughter the same way people would to attempted murder. Examples:

  • Scream: a natural response that is loud enough to alert characters of all kind over certain distance.
  • Flee: If they sense something is off about the person approaching (e.g. bandit holding a knife) they would experience fear and starts to flee.
  • Fight: Depending on the type of livestock, if they are cornered, suffered damage, or generally aggressive, they could fight back.
  • Resist capture / throat slitting: As all sentient life would, livestock would resist their death to their last breath. Different livestock should require some different way to kill, as the locations of their major blood vessels are different.

Impact of suggestion if implemented: This is to avoid overnight slaughters of farm animals, which is a loss that cannot be easily recuperated, and give a chance for players and NPCs like guards to be alerted of the presence of intruders.

Suggestion: When law enforcers find you performing illegal actions, they will shout and a pop up notification will inform you what law they accuse you of offending

How you'd like to see your suggestion implemented: When law enforcers discover illegal actions being perform, they would shout in their native language of the law you’re offending (e.g. “You there! Slaughtering livestock is illegal here!”). If you don’t speak the same language, you will get a slightly distorted message.

Impact of suggestion if implemented: There may be many laws in place in any settlement, and it would be unrealistic for people to know them all by heart, especially foreigners and newbies. The mentioned mechanic does two things: it makes it necessary for law enforcers to be present to trigger the pop up, and give a visual notification about their response, even if you don’t speak their language.

Suggestion: Transport Service Contracts – a special service contract that completes by transporting characters to a set destination, and does not require a scribe to draft it. This will become an ability for the profession Driver.

How you'd like to see your suggestion implemented: The transport could take the form of specialized wagons with seats, horse carriages, horsebacks, or on foot. The destination must be known by the transporter. Terms in the contract that can help determine the cost would include, but not limited to:

  • Distance
  • Speed, affected by mode of transport, landscape types, animals used (if any)
  • Number of stops and their durations
  • Risk factors, affected by the safety of the land (either through facts or rumors), number of stops and durations, weather conditions
  • Cargo and their types

Impact of suggestion if implemented: We need a way to have transports become accessible without the need to involve scribes to write them. This would also give Driver a more defined purpose, since we don’t know much about them at the moment. People could use the cost to calculate and plan their trip, adding to the immersion of living in CoE.
