Plot ownership

If I buy a plot of land can it be forcefully taken from me in addition to being destroyed?

Mechanically, yes, but so long as you pay the taxes on that plot, it legally belongs to you, so you can petition local law enforcement to help you.

The caveat is that it also depends on local laws, which can be player defined. Some domains may simply be a free for all. I think Fortuna on Luna was promoted like that at one point, as a sort of frontier experience, though I don't know if it still is or any others are offering the same kind of thing. The point is, quasi lawlessness is theoretically possible.

p.s. It's worth noting that nothing is finalized at this point. A lot of the game mechanics may change as development progresses and testing ensues. But CoE is intended to be an open world with no safe zones, so the use of force can be applied anywhere in the world. It's very possible though that this will change. Stay tuned.

Thank you for the answer. To be honest I have not followed the game much. It looks very interesting and I just did not want to spend money on some extras that could be taken away by someone else who. I guess that is my main concern about purchasing the more expensive packs. I just want to adventure mostly, but it would be nice to have a place to call home as well.

Conceptually, everything you can have can be taken or destroyed. Having a home, even if it is not completely secure from break-ins or adverse possession, can help minimize other losses.

That said, if you are adventuring for long periods, you may be away from home for so long it could be lost by adverse possession.

Thank you as well. I appreciate it a lot. As I said, I just recently decided to check out this game and there is so much info to shift thru...time to start delving into these dev logs.
