After playing so many games and noticing that fun is usually not in the end result of Winning.
With power as the goal, the time is fun is when it becomes obvious or noticable that you are the one that has the power to win. Its in the transition and seeing the reactions of everything to your presence.
I think it is incorrect for games to have total domination as the ultimate goal, In reality when you achieve total domination that is when you start to lose your reason to exist dissipates and you have n where to go but down.
It is almost like aiming to get to the end of your life rather than living, I think this shows the evidence of the absurdity of the ideal people seem to have formed.
A better win state I think would be to just exist with certain conditions for an amount of time. Eg. If it was an RTS have no Civil War for x amount of time, or an RPG "have contacts with x people for x amount of time". You would consider these as wins, but the game would not be over, you goal changes and you win in some different way or win in a harder version of what you have done.
Sometimes the boolean win-lose can make sense eg. getting rid of all elements of a conflict which can create too much imbalance in the world.
Main reason I post this is just I think often people don't match their goals to the things they actually want so people should question themselves every now and again. If you don't question yourself you aren't actually making any of your own decisions.
