The Royal Duchy of Al’Khezam

A Letter to Al-Qaum (The People)

My Dear People,

... In the name of our people, the wise, the beloved, and the merciful, i welcome all those who seek to join the Royal Duchy of Draigh, broadening our borders, enriching all within through the intermingling of wealth and wisdom from all who are part of us. As our faith behooves us, we welcome all those who seek to serve the duchy and join us in becoming Al-Qaum (The people of Usifan) with open arms, knowing that there are benefits to all if we follow as our faith commands. Together we can continue to watch our Dilmunia grow in prestige, in honour and in fame throughout the world, our produce second to none, our trade routes inviolable, our people happy and well fed, with none of the natural disasters to threaten our land, blessed as we are by the temperate climate and buffeted from fierce winds and temperatures by our mountains.

The Royal Duchy Civil and Judicial system

… To those who do decide to join the Royal Duchy of Draigh will find that their peace and prosperity is guaranteed by our civil administration and judicial system, which is known throughout Elyria for its transparency, fairness and the upholding of justice for all. Every mann and womann have the same right in the court of law, no matter their social standing, and everyone has a voice in Usifan, be he Lord, blacksmith or a peasant. In all matters of law and civil administration, the hierarchy is as follows:

The House of Merchants

Every wealthy merchant in Dilmunia and its neighbouring cities will find he or she accepted into the social ranks of Al-Qaum and accorded a representative. These representatives must be voted into office by the guild, village or township they reside in and are tasked with seeing to the best interest of the people they represent. The representative will put forward grievances to the court, and advise guild or town members of their legal rights, and make requests and appeals to the Court of Counts, or High Temple as necessary.

The Court of Counts

All member of the nobility within the Royal Duchy are given a place in the court of counts. Each member must prove him or herself worthy of their title by convening at the court to discuss ways to better Al-Qaum (the people of Usifan), improve infrastructure, secure trade deals and suggest new laws. New laws are to be put to the vote, and if passed, will be sent to the Royal Council. If they approve, then the bill is put forward to the King.

A leading family of the nomads, who have united Al-Qaum, ending years of strife and turmoil, heralding a new era of peace and prosperity. They have risen to prominence amongst the nomads, founded a dynasty of Emirs which became known as Ben'Usifan, who decided on finding a land flowing with milk and honey, for their people to settle.

Stories were scripted of the steeds this house toiled over, but its practices were lost to the descendants of this house and because of this the latest count has become autodidact and will have to earn back his families name.

The Mirothels have always taken great pride in providing a fine display of eloqance and etiquette. On the streets of Feyfeilds it's not uncommon to see nobles mingle with the citizens, neither is it uncommon for the citizens of Dellanore to participate in festivities that are thrown by the mirothel's. Their history and the prosperity of Dellanore is best seen draped by the many tapestries and paintings found in the city, and the splendour can only truely be comprehended by visiting the fairy tale.

House Mercer is an honorable house, and a vassal to the Duke of Usifan, and a part of the Kingdom of Al'Khezam. As well as the rightful Lord of The Mercia County.

As you have read, what you know to be true from your interactions with us, you know that every citizen of Usifan is blessed. You too, will benefit from the peace and prosperity that we share with all our citizens and we encourage each one of our counts to achieve his or her vision. Every Count, Lord and Commander is given free reign (as accorded by the game mechanics) over his or her territory in order to enrich its coffers, build its infrastructure and gain new trade ties and routes within the guidelines of our beliefs. When you swear allegiance to the Tulip and to her chosen representative, myself, you will find yourself welcomed by a community of like-minded individuals, who will urge you to be true to your lands and follow your dreams, while offering you the support you may need, be it financial or security. Afterall, The Duchy of Draigh can only be first among the Duchies of Elyria if each of her lords are strong.
