Lantern shield

the lantern shield is an other unusual weapon.

Combat at dawn, dusk or in little to no light are difficult, and fighters need to use their off hand to carry some light source, be it a torch or a lantern or a glowing pinecone, while that off hand could have carried either a second weapon or a shield.

The lantern shield is the solution to that problem, an elaborate combined weapon providing, a gauntlet, a buckler, pikes, a sword blade and of course a lantern, all in one weapon.

Elyrian transposition

Such a weapon would be a must have for any Hrothi worth is years. Fully made of metal, deadly in close quarter, providing just enough light for the Hrothi to be fine, but not enough for the enemy to see, then releasing light and blinding the opponent enough to take the advantage.

As the Hrothi are smaller than most, the buckler is fine and a lot safer for the books, a lot less likely to put any library on fire than a normal lantern or a torch.

Huh I've never heard of something like that before, it's very cool though! I think it would make sense to see something like that or similar in game considering the day/night cycle. It would be interesting if light sources could also be incorporated in clothing like miniature lanterns on belts.

It would make a usable off handed weapon. it straddles the line between a buckler and small shield. Something one could parry with, do off handed strikes and avoid needing a torch or lantern.
