The Luna Conference of Standardized Cartography (LCSC)
The LCSC will be a joint conference between Guilds, Schools, independent explorers and cartographers. It will provide a central platform, regardless of diplomatic relations, to come to a consensus on naming rights and to support those names if a consensus is determined. It will also provide basic support to Kingdoms and Duchies without such organizations or prominent individuals.
This conference is in its infancy, so the details are subject to change.
Statement of Purpose:
The LCSC will deal with the problems of domestic and international standardization of geographical names, and to offer suggestions and recommendations for standardization.
To standardize names of geographical entities, so as to support the name of the discovering organization or individual. As well as in the case of a name change, swiftly update maps to support the said change.
To provide encouragement and guidance to those kingdoms which have no national organization for the standardization and coordination of geographical names to establish such an organization and to produce national gazetteers at an early date.
To provide all member organizations and individuals with a simple guideline of restrictions so as to inhibit the use of lewd or obscene names.
Organization:
Chairman: Initially chaired by myself, however a system of election shall be made so as to keep the conference healthy.
Seats: Attaining a seat for this conference means one of the following is true:
- An Official representative of a Kingdom whose job description specifically includes exploration, cartography or geography. One per Kingdom and may not overlap with official kingdom guilds. (see below)
- A representative of a guild with the purpose of exploration or cartography.
- A representative of a school related to the advancing of the cartographic process.
- An elected individual representing a currently undetermined number of independent explorers.
If a guild is an official organization for a Kingdom, the guild and kingdom seat will be consolidated into one seat.
