With its history being founded on the back of battle and service, the County of Westmorshire has come to carve a niche in the Kingdom of Vornair. While production and commerce are considered essential aspects of any successful county in it’s efforts to support both Duchy and Kingdom, Westmorshire has a particular focus that yields unexpected benefits; that being seeing to the well-being of the citizens of Rhynelands, and where practical, Vornair.
With it's roots in the battle the Healing and Educational Academy for Life (HEAL) started its life in the 704th year of the fourth age as a refuge for wounded soldiers, and eventually evolved into a guild for the healing arts and hospital for the wounded and sick.
Strategically placed in the county seat of Windermere, county of Westmorshire, of the Duchy of Rhynelands, HEAL offers research and healing facilities for Alchemists, Apothecaries, Glass Blowers, Herbalists, Horticulturists, Scribes, and of course nurses, doctors and surgeons, in order that they might improve their skills in medical techniques.
The County of Westmorshire has also come to learn of the importance infrastructure to match the growing needs of any county. To that end, there is a dedicated focus to ensuring the growing needs concerning healing, spiritual guidance, trading and the economy are supported by the appropriate infrastructure.
No doubt influenced by the two centuries influence and legacy of House Mortimer, Westmorshire is also home to a spiritual sanctuary and seminary. Over the years, House Mortimer has come to appreciate the compassionate overlap that healing and service to the Divine have. Those who are seeking to connect with a divine calling, to commune with the Divine, and to seek inspiration from spiritual educators who have much wisdom to share will be well served in making a pilgrimage to the Cathedral, Monastery and Seminary of Westmorshire.
We are actively seeking Mayors and Barons to settle in our county. The focus of healing and spiritual establishments will provide practical economic reasons for citizens to travel to the County, as well as contracts to ensure the touring of county, duchy and kingdom bringing medical, spiritual and legal support.
In order to support the growth of both duchy and county, and thereby the Kingdom, there will be a need for Mayors and Barons who wish to settle towns. We are also actively seeking individuals interested in the following: * Healing professions and research * Architecture and Infrastructure * Trading and commerce * Religion/Spirituality within CoE (understanding that until Land Selection and the Kingdom’s Tribe is known the influence of religion upon the region is yet to be fully grasped)

The County of Westmorshire, along with the county seat of Windermere, was founded in the 599th year of the Fourth Age following turbulent times. Political intrigue concerning twins in line to succeed in the Mortimer line, Morshire was split into two counties, Westmorshire and Eastmorshire. However, with the death of the older twin in a “freak hunting accident”, the younger twin and successor successfully petitioned the Duke to annex the County of Eastmorshire, and thus Westmorshire as it is currently known was formed.
In the year 678, the new Count of Westmorshire, Adam Mortimer, faced his first true test. A border skirmish eventually made its way to Windermere. In the aftermath of the battle that saw more soldiers injured than killed, Windermere Hospital was formed and opened. What began its life in response to an immediate need turned out to be a foundation for both the County and the City of Windermere.
