Now that DSS is over and while we are waiting for SoE to start, i was wondering what was the actual control players have on our continent.
As all of us you might have heard some nobles or factions with aggressive or expansionist positioning and questioned if there was actual mechanical game system truth behind it or if it was empty bragging or delusion.....
I hope this thread will give some keys to answer that question.
Favor Casus Belli:
CB on King title:
- Type 1 : 66% of dukes in the kingdom support the CB -> 8 duchies worth of support (16 for double kingdom)
- Type 2 : 51% of kings support the CB -> 4 kingdoms worth of support
CB on Duke title:
- Type 1 : 66% of counts in the duchy support the CB -> 16 counties worth of support (32 for double duchy)
- Type 2 : 51% of dukes in the kingdom support the CB -> 7 duchies worth of support (14 for double kingdom)
- Type 3 : 25% of dukes in the kingdom and the king support the CB -> 3 duchies worth of support (6 for double kingdom)
CB on Count title:
- Type 1 : 66% of mayors in the county support the CB -> depends on the county's number of settlement
- Type 2 : 51% of the counts in the duchy support the CB -> 13 counties worth of support ( 26 for double duchy)
- Type 3 : 25% of counts in the duchy and the duke support the CB -> 6 counties worth of support (12 for double duchy)
As it is player control that i expect to weight, only PC nobles and aristocrats are taken into account to check if a type of CB is available.
In order to ease the process and because we do not have a clear answer on the subject, i also decided, in order to validate the type 1 County CB, to use all aristocrats no matter what the size of the settlement they selected.
So, if a Type of CB is listed as available it means that PC can manage, without the need to rely on NPC, to obtain a CB against that title. The types of CB not listed means that to get those, PC will need to gather support from NPC.
We do not know yet what it will involve or how difficult or how long it will take to gather that support but knowing SBS we can assume that it wont be easy or fast and will definitely require in game actions from the characters involved.
Selene actual situation:
If i was to venture into analyzing those data i'd say that, while we have to keep in mind that things will probably change quite a bit with SoE, right now, the actual control players have over the Selene political field is "limited".
- locally, in the duchies where there is a rather large number of players have settled, the nobles have some measure of control.
- Al'Khezam and Demalion are the kingdoms that have the largest control of themselves.
- Tryggr which has numbers large enough, concentrated those numbers into 4 duchies, increasing the control players have over them, but decreasing the general control on the kingdom.
- Arkadia and Nirath are largely not under player control, Nirath especially is nearly totally NPC controlled while with similar numbers, Arkadia managed to concentrated them into its eastern duchies increasing its grip on those but "abandoning" in the process all of its western half.
So, from what we can see , for now, Selene is quite sheltered from player aggressive politics not involving serious NPC interactions and ingame involvement, meaning most of the discourse we can see over discord about expansion, conflict or cross-border affiliations is mostly bragging or delusion.
But lets keep in mind that one of the most important point in this analysis is, "for now", both SoE and upgraded knowledge on Casus Belli can and will most likely modify the situation of Selene.
