The tribal aesthetic continues to develop! Each biome presents its own challenges and has different materials available. Inhabitants of tropical rainforests for generation upon generation, the Janoa value a good hunt. Using materials gained from past hunts on one's equipment serves a dual purpose by being both provocative and practical.
This is a fairly basic shield that would be found commonly among the Janoa. Additional adornments or higher quality materials could be used to make a fancier version.

Models look nice, you can tell this shield is more for 1v1 fights then pitched battles.

It may be look awesome but it will be useless in combat tho .... Spike will make movement horror... Spikes have no battle usage what so ever they will most likely harm the person that is holding this shield ..... if the spike would be mounted in center of the shield well its a different story ....

Unless it is both shield and weapon. If it is designed to be used two handed like a staff or Bo. Used that way I could see potential... more likely they are looking at it being used like shields and spears, like the Masai and other cultures. From what I have seen in videos they can be quite effective.
