Palus Reach, literally meaning Queen’s/King’s Reach, is a newly acquired Duchy of the Kingdom of Blackheart. Palus, which means Queen/King in the Dras’ native language, and Reach, representing the furthest expanse. Together Palus Reach is the furthest expanse of the Queen and King of Blackheart’s Royal Archduchy. As such, it is included under the administration of the Royal Archduchy, which now consists of the Grand Archduchy of Darkholm and Archduchy of Palus Reach.
Palus Reach is located in the Southeast of Blackheart, facing the Kingdom of Tyria to the east and the Kingdom of Riftwood to the south. Palus Reach is a highly focused on expansion and military might. Palus Reach seeks to be self sustainable and will maintain clear trade and communication with the Royal Capital. Within Palus Reach lies it’s Capital, Geistfestung, the Southern Military Capital of the Kingdom of Blackheart.
Palus Reach is home to Erdrick Darkholm, the Dark King of Blackheart. This way the Queen, Rowena Darkholm, and King of Blackheart not only lead by influence, but by example as well. Setting a standard for diplomats, politicians, and soldiers alike.
Archduke of Palus Reach - The Archduke commands the Cloister of Xen’s military might in Palus Reach, and leads the duchy.
A few examples of Palus Reach's military ranks are:
Reapers - The elite, personal force of The Archduke and Crown and of Blackheart. Reapers take on special assignments that are sensitive in nature.
Templar - The Templar embody the rage of the Two Fold Queen and focus on solving issues through direct conflict and obliteration. The Templar are primarily foot soldiers and lead the charge during engagements and Holy Wars.
Inquisitors - The Inquisitors embody the deceptive nature of the Two Fold Queen and focus on solving issues through indirect conflict and manipulation. The Inquisitors are primarily masters of the deviant arts and combat from the shadows.
Confessors - The Confessors are primarily comprised of healers and teachers. They will tend to the sick and wounded, grant knowledge to those who seek it, and provide sanctuary and shelter to all in need. They will be the embodiment of the Two Fold Queen’s love and compassion.

Grand Council of Palus Reach - A group of trusted advisers that give the Archduke advice and council. The Archduke communicates regularly with the Crown of Blackheart.
Matriarch/Patriarch of Twilight - The masterful tactician of twilight. The Matriarch/Patriarch of Twilight works with The Archduke to root out traitors within the border.
Matron/Patron of Exchange - The leader of Commerce and Trade. The Matron/Patron of Exchange ensures that trade and commerce are free flowing in Geistfestung and the cities of Palus Reach. Everyone should have access to goods while in the lands of Palus Reach.
Great Mason - The leader of Infrastructure for the Duchy of Palus Reach. Commands the Masons of Palus Reach, and ensures the infrastructure of Palus Reach is upheld, including the Royal Highway of Palus Reach.
Masons - Takes commands from the Great Mason. The Masons ensures all Counties and Cities in Palus Reach have the necessary amenities to prosper and succeed.
Royal Highway of Palus Reach- The main road leading from the Royal Capital in the Grand Duchy of Darkholm to the Duchy of Palus Reach.
Untained Eye - The leader of the Cloister of Xen.
Supreme Arbiter of Palus Reach- This position is held by The Archduke of Palus Reach. Ensures the Laws of Palus Reach are being upheld. 12 Arbiters are appointed to help uphold the law around Palus Reach.
Arbiters of Palus Reach- A special title for those who hold law above all else. The Arbiters of Palus Reach help the Supreme Arbiter keep the borders secure, help enact or remove laws, and are part of the Grand Tribunal process. Counts, Barons, Mayors, Citizens, and Council members can be appointed as an Arbiter.
The Grand Tribunal - A specific Tribunal that requires the attention of Archduke of Palus Reach and the Arbiters of Palus Reach.
All defendants in The Grand Tribunal may invoke the right to a Champion of Death. That is to say one champion of the defendant and offender’s choosing can choose to fight to the death, meaning coup de gras. The winner of said outcome will be the undisputed winner of that case. Normal Tribunals cannot invoke the right to a Champion of Death unless the Count where that Tribunal is taking place authorizes it.

Wraithwood holds the capital of Southern Military Capital of the Kingdom, Geistfestung. Wraithwood will have linked trade routes and transportation to the Kingdom Capital.
Geistfestung is known Southern Military Capital of the Kingdom because the eastern expanse will be coordinated and start from here.
Wraithwood’s primary focus is going to be expansion and self sustainability. Wraithwood will command a division of the Cloister of Xen. The future of Wraithwood is aimed at trade, security, and self sustainability.

Central hub for all important matters settled in the Duchy. Within Geistfestung, the Archduke lives and commands the Duchy.
All counties and cities will be treated fairly within Palus Reach. The individual counties and cities within Palus Reach operate autonomously, but must follow the laws of Palus Reach.

Very nice write up. I personally like the idea of the right to a Champion of Death. It definitely gives it a Sparticus/ Roman Empire kind of feel; where a criminal or outlaw can still get an opportunity to live through a trial by combat. All Hail to Palus Reach, may the Cloister of Xen’s military be mighty, and the Capital of Geistfestung forever stand against those who come to taste death on Blackheart's borders.

Very nice write up. I personally like the idea of the right to a Champion of Death. It definitely gives it a Sparticus/ Roman Empire kind of feel; where a criminal or outlaw can still get an opportunity to live through a trial by combat.
