Two questions, First How large are the Dryas Elk? Scale is a bit difficult to understand in the cinematic.

Second are the Elk ridable? I feel like a Dryas Elk would be an awesome mount if they are large enough to be ridden.

i dont like to be negative, but this is real, this is happening... I put an example on real times, see, this guy isnt professional, and it takes 7 months without any pay or expectations, and did this with old game engine/graphics https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JNOxz9paA6E . Im thinking again about the advantages of having more designers than engineers on the development team. Where's the work ? why each time is more harder to justify with CoE, i love this game (in concepts) but this isnt working, i guess.

@Ekyua:
  1. This guy nearly spends 6 months between "trailers"

  2. 90% of the content is ripped from straight from WoW, even the dialog. Not to say his work isn't very good, it still takes him 6 months between and most the assets aren't even his own

Hmm... a cinematic for Brudvir? Does this mean there will be more for other tribes?

Sleep - 8 months ago

was that Heat doing the narration?

Grapefruitkush - 8 months ago

This was nice , thanks for that. 2018 is definitely the year for actual gameplay though , my advice to you SBS , is to show us some live gameplay videos before vox alpha drops - that way more backers would buy the alpha pack and such and roll more money into development at a crucial time !

Showing the progress along the way is fine but as long as you ARE showing progress. We have been seeing these still images and concept art since the end of 2016 when COE was first announced. I can tell that at first the majority of the community was hyped to see anything especially concept art because you guys just started but after a year and a half of production I sense that more and more people are getting frustrated at the fact that it seems like nothing has changed. Trust me just look at an mmorpg reddit and you will see thousands of people starting to get annoyed with SBS. Though I still have faith you guys will be able to come up with a great game just missing A LOT of the promised features. I suggest working on combat as well since if it is done correctly it will create a lot of buzz in the mmorpg community as seen with many previous titles and most likely boost your desperately needed funding. Since with these types of videos you only get your hardcore, already pledged, community members excited. While making others sitting on the fence even less likely to pledge due to lack of progress. I wish you good luck this year and I hope we get to see some more gameplay.

That was fun, thanks SBS

I mean the concept is cool and interesting and would like to see it expanded upon but a couple of still images is all you can come up with? I expected at least some sort of short animation or at the very least more energetic image sequence. I get it that you are struggling with funds, it is a valid statement, but this just comes across as lazy.

I loved the cinematographic work, congratulations to everyone involved. I look forward to playing, bring me more news of this wonderful game.

I got all excited when I saw the email. I thought I was about to see some gameplay.

Why are some people going nuts over this? Its the worst "cinematic" I've ever seen for an MMORPG game, never have seen one with all still images like that. Just shows the lack of manpower and resources the team has that they have to put out "movies" that are stills IMO.

in my mind it means that they can throw us a bone without taking away a lot of time and effort from game development.

for my taste, it was a very nice video. the sound effects being the standout to me.

Well I loved it. And to be fair, GW2 had similar cinematics with your starting story. Just my 2 cents but I love little tidbits like this. Especially, as we're all waiting for the main course.

Thats what i love about this game. Start with primitive tools and with all of our effort, progress tools into awesome power tools and weapons.

I love it.

As I've said before when you guys have released these little scenes, I hope to seem them used liberally in game. I don't imagine they are all that time consuming to illustrate since they are mostly stills. I'd like to see these sorts of quick scenes used as a lore tutorial when you come across a new region, person, creature, etc. to help set the feel of the world.

It surely seems to be one of the uses those cinematic animations would be used best for, however personally I'm more of a "show, don't tell" guy when it comes to Tutorials. Similar how Half Life 2 never had any visible instructions to introducing enemies, weapons or persons. Let me discover things myself, and include it into the game. I'd rather see people talk about animals to learn about them and I'd rather cut an animal open to see what its made of, than being told by some flavourtext or lorebit that I get thrown at via UI or an ingame book. Its part of the reason why games like ESO bore me to death, even though their Lore is rich and deep - its incredibly boring to sift through hundreds of books to get the full extent of the story, and there is no reward for deeper exploration other than the next boring book or lorebit that you'll never experience yourself firsthand.

I like those Videos tho. They are cheap, fairly easy, don't take much manpower and convey a story much more like an audiobook with some pictures. Its perfect for this game, in my opinion.

There's a dragon-like giant aerial predator able to lift an elk. It looks vaguely batlike. Is it reptilian or mammalian? If it is reptilian, how is it able to survive in an arctic environment at all?

There are hunters with glowing yellow eyes equipped with stone-bladed spears. Are these the Yoru?

Prof_Griz - 8 months ago
@Poldano:

It's a ptetroguin, and those were some Brudvir. The ptetroguin is probably a bird, since it's based of off penguins with pterodactyl features.

So a few still images with minimalistic animation and the crowd gets excited. :-D

Please post the in-game version of the same story. That definitely would get me excited.
