Hello, all.
This is my county campaign announcement for the Free Kingdom of Elyria event.
And yeah, it's just a county campaign, so why should you care? I'll keep it short: I want to create a stable and secure region, free from the turmoil of politics and war. Nothing fancy. No particular focus. Just a home for anyone who wants to be sure they have a home to come back to after their journeys. I will do all in my power as a count to ensure the safety and security of this region. If that sounds promising, read on.
Before I continue, understand that much of this cannot be laid out in detail until domain selection and until more is known of the game's mechanics. Everything but the core ideals is subject to change. The name of the county will be chosen at domain selection.
Ideally, I want to place this county in the interior of the kingdom. Out of likely conflict zones, and, if possible, along a major route to the capital to provide good access to trade.
The government will be simple, and accessible for those who wish to have a say in the local laws. Each town, village, and hamlet may have a representative in the county office to ensure the needs of their citizens are met. Additionally, guilds who are based in the region may have representatives as well if they so desire. However, I don't wish for the government to be burdensome on any who wish to stay out of it, keeping in mind that decisions may be made in their absence that may affect them. I myself will always strive to be available to any citizen of my county to hear their concerns.
This will be a law-abiding county, and laws will be stringent on those who would harm another player in any way. If you plan to be a disruptive deviant, this town will not be for you. If you see that as a challenge, we'll have a lovely jail cell and free meals provided twice a day.
Taxes will heavily depend on what the duke and king require. However, beyond what is needed to run the county smoothly, taxes will primarily go toward building up defenses and strengthening the local police and detective force to discourage and punish deviancy.
I want this to be a region where you can go about your business without worrying about either the citizens around you or the lords in far-off castles. Where you can go adventuring and journeying and always come back to a warm hearth.
