SERVER: NA-West
COUNTY: Grand County of Loc’Mir
DUCHY: Royal Duchy of Kathandriel
KINGDOM: The Kingdom of Ashland
GOVERNED BY COUNT KOLVAN ISENDALE
There is a three pronged approach to the economy within the City of Vlans:
- Agriculture
- Production
- Trade.
It is our hope that coin will not only flow in and out of the City, but it will also flow freely within the City as well. There will be three elected Masters in each Department. These elected officials will be sitting members of the County Council. Each Official will be responsible for their respected field, recruitment, and utilization. In times of war, the Officials may ramp up production requirements and recommend trade embargoes to the County Council.
Master/Mistress of Agriculture: In charge of the growth of Livestock, Produce, Herbs, and Plants. The County will have three main agricultural focuses.
- Provide enough food to ensure the survival of citizens (cabbage, potatoes, meats, ect.)
- Ensure economic sustainability.
- Produce foods that can be viable for travel (Grains, dried meats, salted foods).
Any occupation that involves land will fall under this department, here are a few examples:
- Farmers: Typically will only grow one or two types of produce.
- Herders: Raises animals for the purpose of food and milk. Some herders may also participate in making cheeses.
- Butchers: Butchers cut and trim meats. They are also responsible for the distribution and sales of meats within their settlements.
- Grocers: Responsible for the distribution and sales of produce within their settlements.
Master/Mistress of Production: In charge of the production for the County . Although we are open to all types of crafts we will have a primary focus. The production within the County comes from a variety of sources. Any craft that produces goods and / or services will fall under this department, here are a few examples:
- Spinners: Spins flax into linen (paper craft, tailor, etc.)
- Crafters: Anyone that produces items from crafting.
- Paper crafts: Crafts paper from linen
- Tailors: Weaves linen into clothing Flax will be utilized to create linen. This linen will be used to create paper, clothing, etc..
- Metal Workers: (Blacksmiths, Armor smiths, etc.)
- Book Makers: (Manuscripts and other tombs)
- Tavern Owners: Services rendered, rental rooms, etc.
Master of Trade: In charge of imports and exports. We will utilize whatever routes land selection provides us for trade be it dirt roads, mountain passes, river boats, ships, or any other means. Due to security risk, potentially low man power, or other circumstances we will maintain an open mind to utilizing third party merchants if it is deemed more profitable. Any trade that requires travel outside of the Settlements or County will fall under this department, here are a few examples:
Grain official: obtains foods and water for trade missions. This will primarily be grains and hard cheeses. They will also need food and water to provide outside merchants with food and water. This will promote merchants to come to our County for trade.
Caravans: This is a merchant that has elected to travel out of County. This position can change from trade mission to trade mission. Each Caravan is responsible for electing its own Caravan Leader, securing security (guards), and communicating with grain officials for required food/water.
Merchants: Someone that will buy and sell goods in other cities.
Trade Policy
- We will support all Embargoes placed by the Kingdom or Duchy.
- We will not trade goods that has the potential to be utilized for military means with known enemies of the state.

How does the average citizen fit into this?
In addition to agriculture, production, and trade we will have property taxes. This will be based off landowners… leased lands will include property taxes. As with all things CoE, the Art of Negotiating and Contracts are essential when dealing with taxes. (Currently, we have a couple of ideas on hand)
- Farming and Production (Leased Land): We can lease land to citizens for a fee and allow the citizen to keep all profits not included in the lease contract. They will be responsible for shipping charges and all taxes will be included in the land lease agreement.
- Farming and Production (Non Leased Land): Citizens may work on the land without a true lease. However, they will be obligated to pay a percentage of profits or a percentage of gathered/produced goods (type of tax).
- Merchants: City contracted merchants will receive compensation based on distance to the desired location and the type of goods. They will likely be cheaper than independent merchants but should receive more work.
- Already a Gentry? Because you already own land we likely will not enforce any agreement aside from basic taxes. However, we ask that you consider the well-being of the County with your goods.
