High Revburgh

High Revburgh is an NA East City

About Us

High Revburgh is the capital city of the Kingdom of Vornair. The Rhyne family has held the seat of power in this city for ages. They are often seen with their skulk of foxes moving about the city helping all manner of people build, set up their shops, sell their wares, and protect the city. The city is broken up into districts dedicated to industry. High Revburgh has always been known as a place of great ingenuity and they aim to keep it that away. Each district has a college dedicated to the research of the various crafts in that industry. These colleges were originally founded by the Rhynes and continue to be funded and guided by them to this day. Successful breakthroughs in an industry’s research result in prosperity for all within High Revburgh, and as such the researcher gains recognition and awards for their discovery.

Twice in a life time, approximately every 25 years, a symposium is held in High Revburgh for the masters of the various crafts to show off their research and how it is applicable in their industry. This symposium grants the researchers great renown and drives their industries forward. The merchants and crafters of Vornair come from all around to see the new ingenious things that have been cooked up by inventors from High Revburgh, and the merchants and crafters in High Revburgh get access to this research just by virtue of being part of the city.

The districts are separated out as shown below (Please keep in mind this is a mock-up, if I have my way when it comes to designing the city I would actually love to model the core of the capital city to look like the Vornair shield knot, if that ends up not being possible we are still planning to segment off the districts like this): Industrial Districts

While the core of the city is industrial by nature, each of these industrial districts will also be large enough to support housing so that the researchers and shop keeps do not have to travel far away from their work to lay their heads down. Outside of the city center (which is what the above depicts) there will be additional housing, churches, markets, walls, farmlands and the like.

Being the Capital City of Vornair and home to the King, the Queen, and their kin: High Revburgh will be one of the safest places in Elyria. Supplied not only from the King’s own garrison of Vaeringjar there is also the very large Ledrhalls Keep filled with The Heathen Army that has never before been felled. The Ledrhalls Keep is ran and managed by Haervy Rhyne brother to the King.

In addition to the industrious city center there is also the political center that runs over top of the industrial districts. This puts the people who help run the city, County, Duchy, and Kingdom into the middle of it all so that they can see and be among the people to hear and address their plights and successes alike, take their suggestions and utilize them in their decision making. The very center of High Revburgh will stand the Revburgh Castle, affectionately called the Kitidel by the people of Vornair. The Revburgh Castle has ramparts that run out to four large towers that are home to the Kings Council members as well as the inner city guard. The castle courtyards and gardens are always open to the citizens of High Revburgh, as well as the castle’s audience chamber. As is the Castles religious grounds and halls of worship.

(Please keep in mind this is a mock-up, if I have my way when it comes to designing the city I would actually love to model the core of the capital city to look like the Vornair shield knot, if that ends up not being possible we are still planning to segment off the political center like this running concurrently over the Industrial Districts): Political Center

Lastly, High Revburgh runs via a city council made up of the King, the Queen, and the King’s two brothers: Haervy and Vorlok Rhyne. The four of them are able to handle most things themselves, be it pass judgement on a case, work with the people of High Revburgh on city plans, resolve disputes, or to hear the suggestions of the people. Large city wide effecting decisions (laws, initiatives, policies, etc) are passed through a City Council Meeting which is made public to all High Revburgh’s citizens to attend. An agenda for these meetings are published and unless there is a need for an emergency meeting, these meetings happen once every 4 Elyrian years (once a month real time). People come from all over the city and all walks of life to listen and provide their voice on the topics that are on the agenda and their thoughts and opinions are taken into consideration when the City Council makes its decision. Additionally, at the end of each City Council meeting there is ample time for people to have public audience with the City Council to discuss their concerns, opinions, make suggestions, or pitch initiatives. Clan Rhyne

Clan Rhyne holds the honor of being the first King's Clan in Vornair. Its people are stout, brave of heart, clever, and honorable people. Their Sigil, the Fox: represents wit, ingenuity, and wisdom. These traits have aided Clan Rhyne largely over the years as military and civil leaders, strategists, and diplomats. Their lineage is passed through meritorious elective ambilineal decent.

Clan Rhyne founded and still holds the Crown of Vornair. They rule from the ancestral homelands of the Rhyne, appropriately named: The Rhynelands. Their seat of power sits in the city of High Revburgh in the County of Penrith.

OOC Our Vision

High Revburgh’s goal is to set the standard for industry and prosperity for Elyria. We want this town to be the crown jewel of the server, to be a city of progress and thus push the boundary on what is possible in every industry. Be it scribing, combat, smithing or cooking there are always bounds to be pushed and new heights to reach.

To achieve setting the bar ever higher we not only promote but we fund the research in all of the various industries. Everyone in the city benefits from the furthering of industries by us making said funded research publicly available. The researchers get the fame of discovery in as many ways as we can get it for them, that will give them renown and recognition that they were the geniuses that came up with the latest and greatest. Additionally, their own shops and private industries will benefit to having the first dibs on their invention as well as any contract that the City needs to fill in relation to that invention.

This is a very powerful thing for all economically focused players, having the research of all of the various professions in one place helps with cross domain research and pushing the bounds of what you can do as crafters and suppliers. Not to mention the work available to you in such a large, populated, and prosperous city would make any Guild very happy to have a home and headquarters in High Revburgh. We are actively recruiting any guilds who wish to have a location in our city. Please feel free to reach out to King Evelake Rhyne I, Queen Lagertha Bjornstad-Rhyne, Vorlok Rhyne, Manskadi Rhyne, or Haervy Rhyne if you are interested in bringing your guild to High Revburgh.

Crafters are not the only ones who benefit from this research and the like, we have an entire district dedicated to the combat and arts industries as well. Combat training and research is a thing and we will have members of our illustrious PvP groups training people and each other in Combat techniques, formations, siege techniques, and defense mechanics.

There are three branches of military in High Revburgh:

The Vaetfang of the Virtori Is an Order of Virtori Warriors, said to be blessed by the gods of their faith, both the Virtues and the Vices. Aptly named for Vaetfang means "Battlefield" which is where you will always find them. It seems more like where they go the Battlefield follows. This is the offensive military force of the Rhynelands and so long as they are supporting and being supported by this community. Where they are is the only place battle can be found in the Duchy.

The Vaeringjar Guard is an elite group of honorable and loyal men and women dedicated to the Rhynelands, and by proxy High Revburgh, its defense, and the upholding of the city’s law and order. The Vaeringjar are not only peace-keepers, but detectives, animal handlers, undercover agents, and for a select few, the King’s personal guard. While Rhynelands defense and justice is their primary purview, they will be asked to fight with the Heathens when needed.

The Draugr Fleet is a salty group of liquid courageous sailors, drunk master crafters, and tactically brilliant inebriated pirates. In real life the majority of us are a group of salty sailors looking to mix our real life experience with our PvP game experience. Ocean exploration and domination of the waterways is our main goal. There will not be a more feared group on the high seas nor a more secure way to travel on the water than with our fleet.

Government

The City Council of High Revburgh makes decisions for the city, they hold regular City Council meetings with a planned agenda that is posted well in advance of each meeting. The agenda will contain what topics will be voted on for that meeting and the people of High Revburgh are encouraged to attend and voice their opinion on the topics so that their voice can be taken into consideration when the Council makes their decision.

There are five members on the council and they all have an equal vote in the city council meetings. The King, the Queen, and the King’s three brothers: Vorlok, Manskadi, and Haervy Rhyne currently make up the city council. Each of the council members can handle all things that do not require a city council meeting, individually. The only things that go up for a city council meeting and vote are: Changes to laws and regulations, Changes to city policy, and Passing of city wide initiatives.

High Council

The High Council positions are appointed directly by the King and Queen. They may be given explicit permission to act with the authority of the King and Queen. All High Council members can submit laws, policies, regulations, or initiatives for the City Council to vote on, and will attend meetings to speak as the submitter as well as advise the City Council and the people of High Revburgh on their areas of expertise.

With the additional information we've received from SBS regarding titles, we have now had clarified that titles will be set by the King/Queen for the entire kingdom. Originally, we used Norse titles such as Jarl, Thane, etc., titles in the Kingdom Capital/Discord (as it is situated in the King's homeland and therefore part of the Rhyne Clan's culture) with the understanding that individual Clans would be able to set titles in their own lands that match their cultures. With this new information, we have decided to adopt more "generic" titles at the Kingdom level, so as not to forcefully push titles that relate to a specific culture onto all Clans in the Kingdom. While titles are now universal across the spectrum we are hoping that having more generic titles prevents our Clans from having to re-write any of their lore / culture / aesthetic drastically. The only change here should be the titles. The rest of the creative freedom for your Clan's culture is still completely and securely in your hands.

Therefore, effective immediately, the titles for the entire Kingdom will be as follows:

  • King/Queen
  • Duke/Duchess
  • Count/Countess
  • Mayor/Mayoress - Baron/Baroness
  • Vassal
